Questions and Answers

What inspired you to start this business?

I left managing a company due to the detrimental effects some of the products caused for individuals and their families. My aptitudes, abilities and interests led me to this segment of the construction industry.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned in business that you wish you’d known earlier?

It took many difficult lessons to learn that I could not be the Lone Ranger. I regret not having a mentor in the early stages of our business.

How do you define success for your business beyond financial results?

Defining success evolves over the years. You get over building an empire. Currently, the longevity of the business and repeat clients, as well as the tenure of employees and trade partners, is rewarding.

Who has been a mentor or inspiration for you, and how did they shape your leadership?

Being part of an industry peer group that taught leadership priorities and exposed us to nationally known business leaders from various industries across the country. It was an impactful and key turning point.

Of the BBB Standards of Trust, which resonates most with you — and how do you live it out in your business?

Transparency. As you practice releasing inflated ideas of your own importance and protecting your own interests, you’re free to just ‘be’ and not be distracted from your mission.

What’s a simple piece of advice you’d give to someone just starting a business today?

I would engage a mentor and write a business plan.

What is one way your BBB Accreditation has added value to your business?

It provides significant validation for prospective clients, and past use of surveys and the Torch Award for Ethics were key elements in our marketing.
