Celebrating 25 Years of Dedication
For 25 years, Wendy Dych has been a steady, reassuring presence at the Better Business Bureau® Serving Central Indiana — a champion for small businesses and a trusted guide through changing economic landscapes.
Her journey with BBB began unexpectedly. When the company she was working for was preparing to relocate to Kentucky, Dych needed to find a new path. BBB was her third interview — and she was hired on the spot.
Although she never expected to stay for two and a half decades, Dych’s commitment became clear early on. She briefly left in 1994 but returned in 2001 to a role where she felt she truly belonged.
“I love what I do,” she says. “Building relationships with our small businesses — who are the backbone of our communities — is what keeps me here.”
Today, Dych works in retention services, serving as a lifeline for BBB Accredited Businesses navigating questions, updates, renewals and challenges.
“I wear many hats,” she says. “A typical day is busy, busy, busy — helping our BBB Accredited Businesses (ABs) make the most of their accreditation, supporting them through issues and making sure they feel seen and valued. In a nutshell, it’s all about building relationships.”
That relational focus has shaped her proudest accomplishments. Whether she’s hitting daily goals or helping an owner understand a process that once felt overwhelming, Dych finds purpose in small moments.
“When a BBB Accredited Business says, ‘Thank you, Wendy, for taking the time to help me,’ that’s when I know my job matters,” she adds. “I have that moment every day.”
Throughout her tenure, Dych has supported businesses through major economic challenges — from the 2008 recession to the COVID-19 pandemic — helping owners maintain their BBB Accreditation during times of uncertainty. She has seen firsthand how businesses benefit when they actively engage with their BBB Accreditation and use the tools available to them.
She has also witnessed tremendous growth and evolution within the BBB. Engagement strategies have expanded, including personal outreach efforts like BizBuzz visits. And looking ahead, Dych is energized by the direction of IABBB (International Association of Better Business Bureaus) under new CEO Rebekah Dopp, especially efforts to connect with younger entrepreneurs and emerging business leaders.
After 25 years, Dych remains motivated by a simple mission.
“At the end of the day, I just want to know I did everything I could to help a business owner,” she says.
And across Central Indiana, countless businesses can say with appreciation that she did.
