Ready for the next installment for upping your cooking game? This spice step not only ups your cooking game, but also helps you eat in a much more healthy way.
We are going to talk about herbs and spices. Proper use of these items can take your cooking up into the stratosphere. Plus, most herbs and spices are nutritional powerhouses.
Take black pepper, Most of you probably use it daily. Did you know that it has been deemed the king of spices? It has been used in ancient Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years due to its high concentration of potent, beneficial plant compounds.
To get the most out of pepper, you should buy whole peppercorns and grind it fresh as needed. Here at New Kitchen Store, we carry a variety of fresh peppercorns that you probably won’t find in your local grocery store.
Peppercorns are high in antioxidants. Black pepper is rich in a potent antioxidant called piperine that may help prevent free-radical damage to your cells. Piperine may also effectively fight inflammation in your body. Chronic inflammation is an underlying factor in many conditions including arthritis, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
Black pepper may also improve blood-sugar control, lower cholesterol levels, contain cancer-fighting properties, promote gut health and help reduce appetite. It may also help you increase absorption of essential nutrients in the food you eat.
Come to New Kitchen Store and try some fresh Malabar or Tellicherry peppercorns. We also have a large variety of spice and peppercorn grinders.
We also carry a large variety of sea salts for every taste, from alaea, a red Hawaiian sea salt, to sel gris, a gray French sea salt, one of my favorites, to pink Himalayan sea salt. We carry more than a dozen different sea salts with different grinds, from flakes to velvet powder.
Sea salt is generally about 84% salt and 16% minerals – much healthier than the typical table salt sold in grocery stores.
Many of us are low on minerals, and they are absolutely essential to our overall health.
Garlic is an aromatic that you can buy fresh, or in minced or powdered form. We sell premium domestic garlic, either minced, powdered, roasted or with sea salt. We even have black garlic with sea salt. This is a far better garlic than is found in grocery stores.
Garlic has many health benefits and nutrients. It may help fight cancer and type 2 diabetes, reduce blood pressure, reduce chances of getting the common cold, and reduce levels of bad cholesterol in the body. Garlic contains a potent antioxidant that may reduce your chances of getting Alzheimer’s or dementia. Garlic also has anti-fungal properties.
You can see that garlic not only adds a great deal of flavor, but is also tremendously good for you.
Here at New Kitchen Store we carry almost every spice you can think of, from anise seed to turmeric. We have both Greek and Mexican oregano, and we carry both sweet Hungarian paprika and Spanish paprika, along with smoked Spanish paprika that adds a subtle, smoked flavor.
