HSE Junior Wins Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest

Hamilton Southeastern High School Junior Jordan Kleine earned first place in the state-wide Martin Luther King, Jr, essay contest sponsored by The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis . She won $500 and was honored at an awards ceremony. The essay required her to choose a specific quote from the “I Have a Dream” speech, explain its meaning and discuss how she uses the quotation in her everyday life. She chose: “As we walk, we must make the pledge that we shall march ahead. We cannot turn back.”

“ Jordan is a deserving recipient of this award; her ambition, drive to succeed and dedication to everything she does never cease to amaze me,” said her English teacher Jill McGrath. “She is the 2007-2008 captain of the HSE Varsity Dance Team, a member of the varsity softball team, academic team and Student Council. She is a talented and conscientious writer who takes the revision process to heart—she is always working to make her writing the best it can be.”
