All homeowners in Fishers, Indiana need to know about the upcoming changes in citywide trash service. Currently, most homeowners associations in the city limits have a contract with Republic Services, Waste Management or Priority Waste for trash service and collect these fees through their annual dues collection. Starting January 1, 2025, the City of Fishers will contract with Republic Services and coordinate the trash service on behalf of all residents – cancelling all the current trash contracts (including those with Republic already). The City of Fishers will then start billing homeowners directly much like they do now for Storm Water fees. It’s unclear yet as to the frequency of the billing, but it would most likely be quarterly with the Storm Water bills. The slides below are from the July 23 Fishers Public Works meeting where they presented their recommendations to present to the Fishers City Council. The proposed rates for the next 10 years are shown below which includes “fuel surcharge, inflation costs, and a city admin fee”. Comparing these costs to our current HOA contract for my neighborhood of Windjammer Bay (Geist Road and Fall Creek Road), this is pretty much the same we are currently paying (we are at $16.34/home/month with Republic). The proposed plan is to have bi-weekly curbside recycling, weekly trash collection service, leaf pickup in April and November up to 20 bags, and heavy trash pick-up by appointment. There is a public meeting next week on August 13. To stay up to date on the developments, visit this page the city set up for this issue: Fishers Trash Service Updates.

Why the rich neighborhoods already get the good rate? Been paying taxes for more than a decade and paying 40+ a month for republic
This is great news. We’re at 104th and Olio and pay Worst Management $60.78/month for weekly single waste and biweekly single recycle pickup which is $10 more per month than we paid Ray’s before Worst Management purchased them, raised rates, and lowered the quality of service. Glad to see they will be out of business in our area come January.
