The Rely Center Expands Mental Health Care In Hamilton County

Crisis Support

Opening in October 2025, The Rely Center, located on Aspire Indiana Health’s campus in Noblesville, is a crisis stabilization facility designed to provide urgent mental and behavioral health intervention, with psychiatric care through triage, stabilization services in a voluntary 23-hour setting, and transition support by offering pathways into long-term care with referrals and connections.

The Rely Center offers all three components of comprehensive crisis support by being someone to call, someone to respond and a safe place for help. Aspire Indiana Health and The Rely Center offer immediate assistance during a behavioral and mental health crisis by always being available through their crisis line at (800) 560-4038 or (317) 574-1252.

Bright yellow safety markings are painted on the concrete ground in front of the building under a wide overhang.

By contacting the crisis line, and depending on the situation, the crisis coordinator can have someone respond to the patient through the mobile crisis team being dispatched to the crisis, and The Rely Center is equipped to be a safe place for the patient to get adequate care.

Taking 2 years and a collaborative planning approach with key stakeholders from the community, The Rely Center was a culmination of creating an initiative to fill a gap in mental health services for the community.

“We listened to the needs and assessed the gaps for alternatives to crisis care, which is why Rely has two levels of care within the facility. Our psychiatric urgent care serves ages 5 and up and is designed to mirror a medical urgent care. Here we can triage, assess and address the crisis within 2 hours. Then we have our adults-only 23-hour stabilization unit, where individuals need more time to stabilize the crisis situation. This entire space is not meant to feel medical or clinical, but relaxing and comfortable. We also offer some comforts of home that can make all the difference during a crisis,” says Vanessa Pataky, vice president of service access at Aspire Indiana Health.

One concern identified by community partners was the need to address and support youth and adolescents in Hamilton County who are experiencing a crisis.

“By working with our community and understanding their needs, we were able to fill a much-needed gap. To date, about 19% of our total visits have been for those under 18 years old. Of the more than 400 visits we have had since opening, we are able to resolve 87% of their crisis needs,” says Pataky.

Creating intricate details of comfort and support when a person is in crisis is an important facet of The Rely Center.

The Rely Center’s psychiatric urgent care is the first part of its full spectrum of crisis services, providing a quick, comprehensive triage and thorough assessment of a patient to address and meet their mental health and medical needs in a calm and relaxed environment. To accommodate youth and their families, The Rely Center has 2 larger triage rooms designed to have additional space and seating.

The Rely Center’s adult 23-hour stabilization unit is designed to provide a safe, relaxing environment for a patient who needs additional time during a crisis to reset and relax. The setting includes dimmed lights, white noise, warm colors, tranquil wallpaper, private recliners with privacy side curtains and relaxing coping mechanisms, including warming blankets, eye masks, ear plugs, wireless headphones and a tablet preloaded with calming applications. For patients needing more long-term care, The Rely Center provides a warm handoff, assisting patients through the transition by offering ongoing support after discharge and creating a seamless transition.

“The Rely Center’s multidisciplinary approach is to treat the whole person and understand the connection between mental health and medical health,” says Pataky.

The Rely Center’s multidisciplinary team consists of a highly trained staff with additional training surrounding crisis management, de-escalation and support, including Crisis Prevention and Mental Health First Aid, giving staff the tools needed to assist and support patients. Alongside the patient, the multidisciplinary team works together in determining a treatment plan and a course of action in neutralizing the crisis.
