Folks, following up on one of my campaign themes, I am interested in forming a committee of Fishers residents to explore converting Fishers from a town into a city. The most obvious change would be that Fishers would have an elected mayor, someone who would be the face of the city and in charge of city administration, an elected official who could be held accountable by the voters.
I would like to set up a meeting, probably after the first of the year, with people interested in working on this committee. As you may know, if a sufficient number of registered voters signs a petition for this change to occur, it will be put on the ballot as a voter referendum.
This was done once before, about 10 years ago, and the voters defeated it. However, Fishers is now far larger, about the 8th-largest city in Indiana, and this should be re-visited.
My thinking is that we set up a Political Action Committee to guide this process. This would allow us to accept contributions to cover our expenses.
If you, or any of your friends, are interested in working on such a committee, please let me know. And feel free to pass this on to others who might be interested.

Anything to get rid of current leadership-and I use the word "leadership" tongue in cheek. More like dictatorship.
Why do you want to change it? To set up a potential revolving door for mayors to walk in and out every 4 years? Doesn't seem very efficient…it would take each one about 2 years to learn the true "ropes" of local government and then they would have to start campaigning again (and could possibly lose). Think about it.
