(Submitted) This morning, Fishers’ first Mayor, Scott Fadness, officially filed with the Hamilton County Elections Office to run for re-election in the May 5, 2015 Republican Primary. Fadness was elected to serve as the Mayor of the community of more than 80,000 residents in November and took office last week as part of Fishers’ transition to a second-class city.
“Since first launching my campaign for Mayor in August of 2013, I have been humbled and honored by the support I have received from those in our community. I have focused on getting out into our neighborhoods and listening to what the residents of Fishers want for their city. Voters have shown their support for my plan for the future of Fishers – encouraging smart growth and creating a sense of identity for our community, while encouraging entrepreneurship, job creation and delivering top quality services in a fiscally responsible way. I look forward to continuing to bring our community together as we lead our city to an even stronger future.”
The Fadness campaign plans to continue to build upon the grassroots network that has grown over the past 18 months. More than 500 volunteers actively supported Fadness leading up to the elections in May and November last year and remain involved in the campaign. Fadness will continue to meet with Fishers residents and talk about his ideas as well as listen to their concerns at neighborhood and community events throughout the city.
“Fishers is a unique community made up of people from various backgrounds. Talking to voters in the community has been the most rewarding part of running for and serving as Mayor. While we come from different backgrounds and can have differing opinions, it is important that we work together to make Fishers the best community it can be. I will continue to reach out to people in our neighborhoods as we work to build an even stronger future for the families and businesses that call Fishers home.”
Due to the transition from a town to a city, Fishers officials elected in 2014 will run again in 2015 for a full 4-year term.
