Celebrate National Poetry Month at Greenwood Public Library
Celebrate National Poetry Month by experiencing poetry at the Greenwood Public Library with a new exhibit and a visit from the Indiana Poet Laureate. The Indiana Poetry exhibit will feature the work of 20 living Indiana poets and be available for viewing during the month of April in the Library’s first floor exhibit hall.
The exhibit is made possible by Indiana Humanities and Indiana Poet Laureate, Karen Kovacik. “I’m grateful to Indiana Humanities and to the Greenwood Public Library for showcasing the fine work of poets from around the state.” states Kovacik. To learn more about Indiana Humanities visit their website www.indianahumanities.org.
Kovacik will be at the Library for an “Evening of Poetry” on Tuesday, April 9th from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Participants will have a chance to meet the Poet Laureate, enjoy a few poetry readings and try their hand at writing a few poems of their own. Young poets in kindergarten through 5th grade can make poetry fit to eat at an Edible Poetry program on Thursday, April 25th from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Both programs are free, but registration is required.
