House to HOME MarketplaceHouse to HOME Marketplace represents a shared dream between longtime friends to provide the Greenwood community with an upscale yet affordable retail interior design shop. The co-owners of the e-commerce business introduced it to the community in November by hosting what was supposed to be a one-time pop-up experience. After receiving an overwhelmingly positive response, partners Megan Guthrie, Marci Pittman and Jordan Trieste rethought how they would operate.

“Opening a small shop like this was always a dream of mine,” Pittman says. “The three of us have known each other for years, and we all had the same dream. We started planning a couple years ago with the idea of developing an e-commerce site since we are at a time in our lives when we want to focus on our families and go through our everyday lives. To begin the website launch, we felt it would be a great idea to do a pop-up so people could see quality of merchandise and become acquainted with vendors we selected. That way they would feel comfortable about buying from us online.”

“Old Town Greenwood is on the verge of revitalizing itself,” Trieste adds. “We are seeing more small businesses coming into the neighborhood. Our pop-up site is next to Revery. The park is nearby. Our first pop-up was November 20 and it went really well. We felt so welcomed by the community. We talked to our landlord and decided to open once a month. We still intend to do mainly e-commerce, but we know people appreciate being able to touch the merchandise and hear the stories about our vendors.”

The co-owners of House to HOME Marketplace share a love of interior design and bring their own style to the business. Guthrie has been a hairstylist, was a longtime owner of a fashion accessories shop in the Indianapolis City Market, and often volunteers at her children’s school by painting and designing spaces. Pittman has a degree in retail merchandise, and has worked in small-scale interior design in addition to renovating and flipping houses. Trieste has 17 years of experience in interior design construction management, and thrives on working with people in conjunction with interior design.

House to HOME Marketplace offers a variety of merchandise carefully chosen by the co-owners. Smaller kitchen items such as baking pieces and glassware are available as well as area rugs, throw pillows and light fixtures. Prices range from $10 for small gift items to around $250 for furniture pieces. Most prices are around $25 to $30.

“We make sure our prices fit into our customers’ budget,” Pittman says. “We focus on providing original pieces from vendors whose stories speak to us. It’s important to us to partner with people doing good things with business. We love small businesses where people make things with their hands and then give a percentage of their profits to causes that help others. For example, the Parative Project donates earnings to free women from human trafficking.”

“There is competition and push out there to make a lot of money quick,” Trieste says. “That is not our goal. We want to showcase products and vendors with special stories. Small businesses should help each other and lift each other up. We enjoy opening a pop-up shop once a month and having personal interaction with our customers. Even more merchandise is available online, and anything ordered online can be picked up at the pop-up or curbside. The three of us have styles that mesh together, and we provide pieces that reflect the feelings inside people to make them feel comfortable, secure and peaceful when they come home.”

The House to HOME Marketplace pop-up location is 241 West Main Street in Greenwood. Those living in the area can order online and schedule to pick up select items in the pop-up shop or curbside. Visit HousetoHomeMarketplace.com for e-shopping and pop-up shop dates and times.
