TranscendTranscend Credit Union started 87 years ago with five members from Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company. They now serve more than 50,000 members in the Louisville and Lexington communities. Though the name has changed, their mission has always remained the same through the past eight-plus decades – to be a preferred lifelong financial service provider, delivering sound solutions to an everchanging world.

“We pride ourselves on providing our members with exceptional service, including counseling on improving their credit score, looking at ways to save them money on their loans, and assisting them with their financial lives,” says Phil Dysinger, Chief Experience Officer. “Plus, there is pride in how we provide service. We greet our members, call them by name, and always provide a positive experience.”

President and CEO Richard Reese says the Credit Union treats every member as an individual rather than a number. “We want you to feel welcome and part of our family when visiting any of our branches, or calling into our Contact Center”, Reese says. “We build relationships that last a lifetime.”

That personal touch has been particularly important in the wake of COVID-19, which served to upend the community financially, physically and emotionally. Some people have been laid off, others have contracted the virus and have had to take off work to recuperate. Through these challenging times, the staff at Transcend Credit Union has helped their members with their finances, for example, by allowing members to skip loan payments for a limited time.

Transcend“It’s on a case-by-case basis, but we want our members to know that we understand they have been facing tough times and we can help”, says Dysinger, adding that members can access their services online using their laptop, desktop, or mobile app to review their balance, transfer money or pay bills. “We work with members to create win-win solutions. Utilization of electronic services have been popular,” says Dysinger.

Currently, Transcend Credit Union is offering a promotion for home loans and refinancing with rates as low as 2.50% APR, with no closing costs. In addition, for those looking to refinance their car loan, Transcend is offering rates as low as 1.89% APR that includes up to $500 cash back. The Credit Union also offers 2 new youth savings accounts – Elevate Eagle and MyCash. Both of these accounts offer a 100% match on the first $50 deposited and have the earning power of a premium rate on the first $1,000 for the first 12 months.

In addition to the new savings account offerings, Transcend has launched two new checking accounts – Go Green Checking and Rate Rewards Checking. Go Green was designed for those desiring a paperless checking account with up to $12.50 in ATM fees waived per month. This account requires eStatement sign-up in order to avoid the $3 monthly fee. Rate Rewards Checking provides premium earnings on balances up to $25,000.

“We provide excellent value to our members by providing outstanding rates on products and convenient account access. The more products you have with us, the more you are able to earn,” Dysinger says.
