Next year, Tammy Goff and her husband Kris will celebrate 40 years of serving the Indianapolis and Plainfield community as a family-owned and -operated business. While Mainstyle Flooring once had four locations on each side of Interstate 465 (Plainfield, Avon, Washington Square and Indianapolis), in 2006 they opted to scale back to just two locations (Indy and Plainfield), and transform their Plainfield warehouse into a beautiful, 2,500-square-foot showroom to include a vast selection of products and samples. They also implemented a new software system, allowing them to customize each guest’s experience.
“From there, we started to focus more on the customer experience as opposed to the sale,” says Goff, who educates guests on what products would be practical and best for their lifestyle.
When Mainstyle Flooring first opened, the array of products available were incredibly limited compared to today’s options. Carpet and sheet vinyl dominated the market, while hardwood and tile were much rarer. Today Mainstyle sells and installs a wide variety of carpet, hardwood, vinyl plank, and tile. They even craft custom area rugs to accent your brand-new floors.
Full bath remodels with custom-tiled showers have also been a large facet of their installations for some time now. With licensed plumbers, electrician las vegas and a custom floor plan, it’s easy to achieve the finished bathroom that clients are going to love. However, some electrical problems are relatively simple. When guests step into Mainstyle Flooring, they are greeted by friendly faces with expert job knowledge, pleasant music, the aroma of a burning Yankee candle, and a refreshing bottle of water.
“No project is too big or too small,” Goff says.
They start with a complimentary measure of your space. Everything is laser measured and uploaded to their flooring software system. Measurements are stored on a cloud server for future reference, so it’s certainly not unusual for customers to say, “Can you measure this while you’re here?”
“People want to get the ball rolling on that next project even if they aren’t planning to start for a little while,” Goff says.
Once they get the measurements back, Goff explains the process and next steps.
She’s found that while a bottom-line number is important, it’s more important to find a company you can trust, that stands behind their product with expert installation and customer service. It’s equally important that the customer is educated and empowered, so they can make a flooring decision that’s right for them and their family.
“Our industry is riddled with unmet expectations that can be solved with attention to detail and clear communication,” Goff says. “After the customer’s selections have been made, the customer is brought back in to see exactly how we are going to make their flooring dreams come true.”
By the time the Mainstyle reaches out to schedule their installation, guests have already had several positive touchpoints with the Mainstyle team.
Today the staff is working on expanding their showroom footprint by another 3,500 square feet, including a stacked-stone fireplace, new paint and drywall, vinyl plank flooring, and a full working kitchen with new countertops. There will be a coffee bar and of course an ivy wall. With all of these new additions, you are bound to find inspiration no matter where you look.
