Legacy Bible Church Celebrates Third Anniversary

Writer  /  Matt Keating

Legacy Bible Church, 2140 Greenfield Avenue, Noblesville, is celebrating its third anniversary, and Legacy’s pastor credits God’s blessing and the church’s members for its success.

“This has been an exciting adventure for us since we started on March 1, 2015,” says Pastor Dr. Keith Kunda. “We started our church at Fishers Junior High School during the worst snowstorm of the year. We moved to this building on November 1, 2015, and we have grown consistently since then. We have been very blessed that this building was available. It has been a perfect fit for us.” Since the first worship service with 50 people, growth has been steady, with a current average of about 250. Dr. Kunda noted they have drawn members from Hamilton, Marion, Boone, Howard and Hancock counties. They offer a 9:30 a.m. worship service every Sunday, with Sunday School following at 11 a.m.  There are two adult Sunday School classes, and well-known Bible teacher Terry McIntosh leads a class for youth.

“We have people who come to check us out for the first time, especially on Easter Sunday, and say, ‘Yes let’s stay,’” Dr. Kunda says. “That’s a great feeling. When people walk in the door, they are welcomed like we have known them all their lives. It feels like a family here. Legacy Bible Church people give their time, talents and treasure to help us continue to grow.”

Those who visit the church are sure to hear in-depth biblical preaching. “We preach through an entire book of the Bible,” Dr. Kunda says. “We study all of the context in which it was written. And The Lord’s Supper is celebrated weekly.” New visitors also experience traditional worship, including congregational singing, choir, orchestra, brass choir, handbell choir and solos. “We use time-honored music,” Dr. Kunda says. “People will enjoy a legacy of hymns that has been passed down through several centuries.” Upcoming Holy Week services include a Good Friday service at 7 p.m. March 30, and an Easter Sunday service at 9:30 a.m. April 1 with extra resurrection music.

Steve Meurer, music director for Legacy Bible Church, noted that they have been blessed with fine musicians who have chosen to play great music in worship.  Meurer says different groups, organizations and individuals have been very helpful with donations of music, musical instruments and even furniture.  “We have received chairs, a piano, choral and instrumental music, books for our library, choir robes, bells and numerous other items that fit in perfectly with what we are doing,”

Legacy Bible Church offers men’s Bible studies, women’s Bible studies and Children’s sermons. “We also are reaching out to the community,” Dr. Kunda adds. “We have a mentoring ministry for youth at Pendleton Correctional Facility. We want them to anchor their lives in Jesus Christ. We want them to find purpose and meaning in their lives. Yes, they have done wrong things, but the goal is to help them move toward Jesus Christ.”

Legacy Bible Church also has an indoor potluck dinner as part of its annual anniversary celebrations and a fall picnic on the church’s beautiful grounds in late summer. Weekly prayer meetings are held every Wednesday at 7 p.m. “I like to call them ‘The Power Plant’ meetings because, similar to a power plant that has energy, our church is powered and run by prayers,” Dr. Kunda says.

Dr. Kunda says that the church has grown through word of mouth, television advertising and their new, revamped website, which launched last month. “We have new members who checked us out on our website and liked what they saw,” Dr. Kunda says. “We’ve had quite a few people tell us, ’I didn’t think I would ever find a church like this again.’ They are committed to this church and they are committed to each other.”
