After a two-year COVID hiatus, the Lyndon Summer Festival is back. Mark your calendars for Friday, June 17 and Saturday, June 18, 2022. Bring your kids, friends and neighbors, and come on out for a long-awaited outdoor treat.

The festival will feature vendor booths (commercial, arts and crafts, nonprofit and educational). Food vendors will provide a wide array of gastronomic delights and the beer garden will be a great place for weary adults to rest. The youngsters and young at heart will delight in the festival midway. They can ride, slide and bounce until exhaustion hits and sidelines them. For a fun rest, they can always take a free ride on the train around Robsion Park. After all, much of Lyndons rich history is its proximity to, and use of, the former Lynns Station train depot, which kept Lyndon residents from having to drive into St. Matthews to catch a train to Louisville.

Lyndon summer festival There will be a wide variety of music throughout the event. Friday night headliners will be the legendary Crashers. On Saturday night the main stage will present our internationally traveled band, Caribou. During the afternoon on Saturday, you will not want to miss Westport Middle Schools Rock NWarhawks (electric orchestra), directed by Cory Zilisch. There will be more musical acts to provide toe-tapping interludes. Dont be surprised when your path crosses with a strolling magician, juggler or clown. While you are up close with them, see if you can figure out how they make their performances look so easy. You will probably have to nudge the kiddos aside to see and pet the country barnyard babies. Baby pigs are fun to hold but they are very squirmy (and the rooster will only peck if you chase him too much).

Just when you think things cant get better, everything will culminate on Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. with an incredible, ginormous fireworks display. The sky will be filled with vast displays of color, shapes and thunderous sounds. If not you, the youngsters will ooh” and ahh” all the way home. Join us for fantastic memory-making opportunities.

The entire Lyndon Summer Festival will be staged in Lyndons hidden gem, Robsion Park. Its 17-acres of astounding beauty feature two pavilions, two age-appropriate playgrounds, a splash pad, three-eighths of mile of walking paths, and picnic tables. While Robsion Park is a bit difficult to see from the street, you can easily access the main parking lot off Lyndon Lane. Another huge parking area is off Lyndon Lane and down Lake Avenue. There is also a smaller lot off La Grange Road, behind the Lyndon post office. There is plenty of free parking.

While at the event, be sure to watch out for Lyndons hard-working Mayor Brent Hagan and say hello. There is nothing he likes better than to share his city and its possibilities with residents and visitors alike. Hagan is as comfortable in a pair of jeans with a paint brush or rake in his hand as he is in a suit and tie presiding over his many business meetings. Hagan has worked tirelessly to improve the local community and quality of life, and provide experiences like the Lyndon Summer Festival, Light Up Lyndon and Eggstravaganza to attract attention, so all of the metro Louisville citizens will know what a great community Lyndon is. Lyndon is a great place to live, work and play. If you cant find the mayor, watch out for one of the seven City Council members and make a new friend.
