Shopping – specifically clothes shopping – can be intimidating for some, if not most, women. Not all women fit the typical 0 to 12 sizes, and not every woman can walk into a typical clothing store and come out with pieces that are flattering and fit properly.
That is why the Wild Bohemian came into existence, to give women a place to shop where they can find stylish boho chic clothes that flatter their body type, and give them self-confidence and self-love. Celebrating eight years of business, Owner Allison Behr reflects on the challenges of owning a boutique, and embraces the mission that she feels God gave her.
Behr felt like God gave her this mission to serve the women in her community. “God placed it in my heart to make women feel confident in themselves,” she says. “I could never just go into a store and find something that fits. I had to search for things that would fit”
The Wild Bohemian’s humble start began with Behr selling items at music festivals and farmers markets, but she wanted a community-centered feel to help more women, and opened a storefront in downtown Noblesville. Her experience has been a whirlwind, having endured COVID and road closures. She says it has involved every emotion, but through it all, the Wild Bohemian always stayed true to the mission of providing confidence to women through flattering boho chic clothing.
“I love everything boho and unique,” says Behr, who carefully curates the boutique’s pieces. “It’s not things you will find in a box store. We carry brands like Free People, but also support local mom-and-pop shops by selling small brands, fair trade and handmade items.”
The Wild Bohemian boutique clothing features a variety of boho-chic-inspired tops, bottoms, sweaters, jumpsuits, dresses, outerwear, loungewear, and intimates, for different body types – all of which are meant for a woman to feel confident while wearing.
The Wild Bohemian not only sells women apparel, but also bracelets, necklaces, earrings, rings, hair accessories, purses, wallets, hats, as well as body-care items, candles, mugs and more. The Wild Bohemian also has several different online gift guides for shoppers’ convenience, including a holiday 2024 gift guide.
It may fit, but does it flatter? While browsing the online selection, each piece of clothing is modeled by a real-life model. These models are a variety of sizes, and each has a different body type, with their specific sizing information listed in the item description. This is designed to create an easy shopping experience for the customer to see how the clothes fit real people.
Shopping is always available online, and shipping is free for orders over $50.
What does the future look like for the Wild Bohemian? Behr says currently there are no plans to open other locations, and she is focused on growing the store online and reaching more women who could benefit from her store.
