Student Spotlight: Nathan Cook

Nathan Cook, a senior at Noblesville High School (NHS), enjoys getting other students inspired at school.

He says its a positive way to get other people involved in all of the great things going on at NHS and in the Noblesville community.

Im the student body president, so I lead the NHS student government,” Cook says. I also serve on the principals advisory council, and Im a member of the National Honor Society.”

CookCook takes his responsibilities seriously, but also has a lot of fun working with other students and the NHS staff. He enjoys working on many of the school events.

My favorite thing about student government would definitely be our ability to get the school excited about different events we plan, such as homecoming and the prom,” he says. Traditions like homecoming provide a unique opportunity to make school fun, and to also raise school spirit.”

Cook also serves on the Noblesville Mayors Youth Council. He believes its a very positive way to improve Noblesville.

I like being a part of a group of other motivated students that care about the community and want to make it better,” he says.

Cook is a member of additional organizations that mean a lot to him. He looks forward to their meetings and events.

I also serve as a student member of the Noblesville Schools Education Foundation board, and Im a Boy Scout,” he says.

Cook is also a manager of the girls basketball team.

Its a very cool way to be involved in sports in high school,” Cook says. Go Millers!”

Cook is also part of the NHS band and other school activities.

Im in jazz 1, the wind ensemble and the show choir band at NHS, and I play alto saxophone and clarinet,” he says. The performing arts are really special at Noblesville, and I love to create music with extremely talented and committed musicians.”

CookCook has thoroughly enjoyed the friendships he has made at NHS.

Im especially proud of the jazz bands accomplishments while Ive been in the band, including making the national Essentially Ellington festival two years in a row,” Cook says. I would love to be in a band for fun next year in college, but Im not planning on studying music.”

Cook says he is looking forward to college.

Im going to IU Bloomington next fall to study law and public policy,” he says. Im the youngest of a family of IU alums, so Im very excited to be down there.”

Cook cant say enough positive things about living in Noblesville.

Ive lived in Noblesville all my life, and I love the sense of community and tradition that we have here,” Cook says.
