Nappanee Shop Precision Custom Services Offers Custom Repair & Craftsmanship for Trailers

Duane Kuhns was a well-established employee of a rising local company when those initial flashes of inspiration came to his mind.
Kuhns was fortunate to have a steady, secure job close to home in Nappanee, gaining a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the field of utility trailer manufacturing. He was an integral part of the workforce with a growing business called Aluminum Trailer Company, or ATC, a business which was fast becoming a formidable force in the creation of specialty trailers.
And then, after a career with ATC spanning 12 years, Kuhns made a leap of faith. He was finally ready to parlay his natural abilities and range of skills into something more. Something that would upgrade and revolutionize the medium of trailer manufacturing into works of custom craftsmanship.
So, Kuhns formed a partnership with his brother, Steven, and together, the brothers launched Precision Custom Services in the spring of 2022. Their mission is to offer repairs and customization to a vast array of trailers.
“We can handle any type of repairs, both exterior and interior, and we can install cabinetry, plumbing, basically anything that goes on inside or outside of the trailers,” Duane Kuhns says.
Ultimately, the goal of Precision Custom Services is to serve as a one stop shop for whatever needs a potential customer would have. The list of amenities that the Kuhns duo can install in a unit includes custom lighting, kitchen outfitting, doors, ladder racks, welding repairs, and far more.
Thus far, Kuhns says, much of their influx of work has come from regional clients, but they have been entrusted with projects from as far away as New York. They are grateful and appreciative of the forward momentum through which their new enterprise has been driven. Yet at the same time, “Starting a brand-new business takes time. Right now, we’re just working part-time, but I’m hoping to go full-time next year, Kuhns says.
Another vision that Kuhns hopes to see come to fruition in 2023 is the creation of a small shop, something that Kuhns can have on site, so that customers can stop in and purchase parts. Kuhns continues to harbor optimism that their specialized and individualized focus, along with their pledge to design the dreams of their clients, will keep things on the rise for their countryside business. And with that mindset, Precision Custom Services seems destined to develop into a venture that is a step ahead and a step above.
