“She thought she could and so she did.” That motto is what drove businesswoman and Greenwood resident Amber Madmoni to create and establish AYKA Medspa four months ago. She wanted to create something different, someplace unique. A place where people could go to receive top-notch, quality medical spa treatments in a relaxed, comfortable and fun atmosphere.
Madmoni did not want clients to feel like just another number. She took her vision and built her business from the ground up, and it shows from the moment you enter the spa.
“When you come here, you legitimately and honestly get a sense of being a part of it [the business] and a part of its growth. You become friends and really get to know the people coming in,” said Madmoni.
What makes a medical spa unique from other types of spas is the capability these facilities have to perform medical procedures. AYKA is overseen by the State of Indiana Medical Board and works under medical director Dr. John Malooley. Dr. Malooley works on-site and handles the injectable services, including Botox and filler injections.
Many spas exist out there that treat customers and patients like a number, bringing them in and out in order to reach their daily quota. Madmoni wants the customers to feel relaxed, not rushed, and thoroughly informed.
So many reasons and skin conditions bring customers to AYKA. Madmoni focuses on quality services at a price people can afford and educating clients before and during their procedures so they understand what is going on. “If I need to take time with you and explain very thoroughly everything that is going to happen, I want to be able to do that,” said Madmoni. Patients should know why their skin is the way it is, what the treatment will entail and how the equipment works.
About 50 percent of AYKA’s business comes from laser hair removal, a procedure that is done with top-of-the-line Candela laser hair removal equipment. The other portion of the spa’s customers come for medical facials, including chemical peels or lasering.
Madmoni has worked in plastic surgery as a board-certified medical aesthetician for over five years, and she is passionate about what she does. She has three staff members, giving the spa a more intimate and familial feel.
Madmoni chose the central location of downtown Indianapolis so the spa would be located a reasonable driving distance from Greenwood and other parts of the city. They are currently the only medical spa facility in downtown Indianapolis. Like so many business locations downtown, they offer a fabulous view—but they also offer free, on-site parking.
Realizing everyone’s schedule is different, Madmoni’s staff is flexible, and they offer evening and weekend appointments to work around what fits their customers’ lifestyles and schedules.
Madmoni is amazed with how quickly the spa has grown. Currently, all of their clients come from referrals.
