For almost his entire life, HSE senior Andrew Bohm has been playing baseball. Going into his final season at Hamilton Southeastern, the varsity pitcher has been training at Force Barbell to help him prepare for the season as well as MLB drafts.
After being referred to Force Barbell by Nolan Watson, MLB first-round draft pick for the Kansas City Royals, Bohm decided to join in hopes of maximizing his potential for the 2016 season. But in only two months, he has accomplished so much more than off-season preparation.
“[Watson] told me to get in because it would help me a lot,” said Bohm. “Since I joined, I have gained 30 pounds of muscle. I have been throwing a lot better – my arms are a lot more fluid when I am pitching.”
Force Barbell, located just off 37 and 141st Street, is a training facility for athletes of all ages and abilities. Whether you are a national strength competitor or just looking to stay in shape, Force Barbell provides a customized training schedule along with first-class trainers to help you reach and exceed your goals.
“When we build a program for an athlete, we do a full physical assessment to learn where they are and what specific needs they have. We address those up front everyday,” said owner and trainer Tyler Miller. “After that, we look at where they are in the season so we can put together a total package program instead of just a training program that is good for most people. We want to optimize performance, recovery, nutrition – getting them on point. We look at training as more of a big-picture thing.”
Through one-on-one personalized training, Force Barbell is a large step above other weight training programs or gyms. At Force Barbell, every single workout is customized for the specific athlete in order to help clients reach their full potential.
“In the school’s weight class, it is all about lifting heavy, as much as you can, without focus on all of your muscle groups and your technique. At Force Barbell, you also work on small muscle groups, soft tissue – you get an all-body workout,” said Bohm.
As for the 2016 season, Bohm hopes to lead his team to a state championship, get All State and be selected for the MLB draft in June.
“I would definitely recommend Force Barbell,” said Bohm. “They build you up as an athlete. They don’t just try to get you bulk; they work on getting your mobility and muscles right, so you can be at your top performance.”
Force Barbell offers a free physical assessment and the opportunity to meet the trainers and tour the facility for anyone interested in joining. To schedule your assessment or for more information, visit ForceBarbell.com or email Tyler@ForceBarbell.com.
