Amber Indian Restaurant has opened a new location in Castleton on 82nd Street in October of this year. Amber Indian is a local Indian eatery including Indian specialties, seafood, Indo-Chinese and many more options to choose from.
Lakhvir Johal is the owner and co-partner of both Amber Indian locations, India Palace and Karachi Kabab Grill. Johal operates with three other partners for these businesses. He works for his customers primarily and enjoys hearing their feedback.
“[Our customers] are good people and they always tell us that ‘we love your restaurant,’” Johal says.
About 20 years ago, Johal’s father started a similar Indian restaurant in New York. After traveling around the country and promoting the restaurant, Johal decided he wanted a change. After traveling to Indianapolis a few times, he liked the location.
In November of 2016, he opened India Palace Restaurant on Lafayette Road in Indianapolis. This restaurant serves primarily Indian Cuisine. After the success of India Palace, Johal opened the first Amber Indian Restaurant location on October 1, 2018, on Meridian Street in Carmel.
Johal is excited about the opening of the new Amber Indian location on 82nd Street. They also bought Karachi Kabab Grill at the end of October, which is also on Lafayette Road in Indianapolis. Two new locations, one in Fishers and one in Greenwood, could also be in the works in the future.
Johal travels to every location and looks after his employees and the work they are doing. He assists them with whatever they might need. He also travels to look after his customers to see how they are enjoying the restaurant. Johal encourages people to come and visit the new Amber Indian Restaurant and check out their food and atmosphere.
“You can go to any burger place for lunch, you can get a small burger, fries and soda costing $10-plus, and you are not even full,” Johal says. “So here you can come and pay $9.99 and you can eat as much as you can from 40-plus items, not only one burger and not only one chicken.”
According to Johal, Amber Indian Restaurant, along with their great employees, serves its food fresh. They have many popular dishes, including their many appetizers and chicken dishes. There are also vegetarian items on the menu, as well as a salad bar. To add to the flavor, they also put out fresh bread to the tables at their restaurant for people to enjoy with their food.
Amber Indian Restaurant is located at 5929 E 82nd St. and is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. It is also open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. For more information about Amber Indian and their menu, visit amberindianindy.com.
