Zionsville Flower Shop, Donna Lennox-Hobson’s charming floral store, has been open since June 2020. Located at 70 South Main Street, with one of the most appealing Business Countertops I have seen in a while decorated to the brim with flowers, it is a sister shop to Lennox’s other business in Mariemont, Ohio. Passersby enjoy the fully decorated outside of the building, but the inside is a treat for the eyes as well.Zionsville Flower Shop

Other evidence of Lennox-Hobson’s talent can be seen in Bender’s Alley, which is adjacent to the shop. It is decorated seasonally and never disappoints those who happen upon it. An aura of magic and whimsy are felt within the space.

With more than 30 years of floral industry experience behind her, Lennox-Hobson understands the role flowers play in celebrating life’s milestones, from new births to funerals. Weddings hold a special place in her heart. She has been lucky to find love twice.

After her first husband passed away, the Indianapolis native returned to the area upon reconnecting with a former neighbor. They had known each other as young parents raising families. After getting married, she opened the shop in Zionsville, but still maintains her Ohio store.

“The floral business is cyclical like many industries and runs on about a five-year cycle, kind of like the fashion industry. Eventually, we all return right back to what we have known in years past. As the owner of a flower shop, if you are willing to hold onto certain items that you love, eventually, they come back in style,” Lennox-Hobson says.

Zionsville Flower ShopLennox-Hobson shares that currently, wedding flowers are simpler today than in the past. The trend today is different than the formality of tightly designed bouquets. Likewise, different varieties other than the old-style orchids, gardenias and lilies- of- the-valley are in favor. However, she is willing to be on the cutting edge and follow a bride’s lead yet glad to give suggestions if need be.

The goal is to help each couple create their own beautiful wedding pageantry. While Lennox-Hobson expects to see the continuing growth of what she calls ‘barn style’ venues, she is also seeing brides choosing fabulous country club or hotel locations, which are much more elaborate in nature.

“I am beginning to see a return to the more formal aspect of a wedding and in fact, did my first tussy- mussy (Victorian style nosegay held in a small container) bouquets for a New Year’s Eve wedding in probably 20 years! Trending back as well is incorporating more color in the bouquets and accompanying florals, versus what we have seen in recent years of creams, whites and blushes only. It’s up to us as professional floral designers to embody that of a true artist of floral designs,” Lennox-Hobson says.

“The Flower Shop develops relationships with brides and all of their influencing partners to invest in what will be their beautiful day of celebration! It is up to us as curators of beautiful florals to be able to help them create a budget that merges with their wish list, as well as their absolute must haves,” Lennox-Hobson says.Zionsville Flower Shop
