Both the patients and staff at Zionsville Eyecare are enjoying the office’s new location at 1120 West Oak Street. Now owned by Dr. Nicholas Garn, OD, the practice has a long history of serving individuals and families from Boone, Hamilton, Hendricks and Marion counties. While the previous office already contained the most up-to-date equipment, the new facility offers the space to heighten the quality of each patient’s experience, through increased service offerings as well as additional exam lines that result in shorter wait times.
“Zionsville Eyecare offers the latest technology in imaging and disease detection,” Garn says. “For ten years we have offered Optomap imaging to improve our patient experience with a reduced need to dilate the pupil. Our newest technology, Adapt Dx, can detect macular degeneration more than three years before a traditional diagnosis. We are looking to start new programs in myopia (nearsightedness) control, as well as advanced screening for annual eye health exams.”
Garn’s specialty is primary care optometry. He was raised in Columbus, Indiana, and attended Indiana University where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology. In 2002 he began the doctor of optometry program at Indiana University in Bloomington, and after being mentored by the founder of Zionsville Eyecare, Dr. James Haines, OD, he joined the practice as an associate optometrist.
“I grew up in a household with a stepfather who happened to also be a great primary care physician – Dr. Walt DeArmitt,” Garn says. “As a child I knew I wanted to enter the healthcare field and that desire never wavered. My glasses prescription changed often and drastically growing up, but I always enjoyed the feel of a new, more accurate prescription. It was an easy decision to choose this route.”
Zionsville Eyecare has provided quality care for over 35 years. Comprehensive eye exams given to infants through senior citizens are extensive enough to uncover issues not found by simple visual screenings. The practice’s team of doctors have years of experience treating even the most complex conditions. The office has the latest diagnostic technology and treatment options for eye infections, eye injuries and dry eyes. Skilled at contact lens fittings and evaluations, the staff can co-manage pre- and post-operative surgical care for cataracts, LASIK and additional procedures. An extensive line of designer eyewear and sunglasses is also available.
