“Zionsville Eyecare offers the latest technology in imaging and disease detection,” Garn says. “For ten years we have offered Optomap imaging to improve our patient experience with a reduced need to dilate the pupil. Our newest technology, Adapt Dx, can detect macular degeneration more than three years before a traditional diagnosis. We are looking to start new programs in myopia (nearsightedness) control, as well as advanced screening for annual eye health exams.”
Garn’s specialty is primary care optometry. He was raised in Columbus, Indiana, and attended Indiana University where he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in biology. In 2002 he began the doctor of optometry program at Indiana University in Bloomington, and after being mentored by the founder of Zionsville Eyecare, Dr. James Haines, OD, he joined the practice as an associate optometrist.
“I grew up in a household with a stepfather who happened to also be a great primary care physician – Dr. Walt DeArmitt,” Garn says. “As a child I knew I wanted to enter the healthcare field and that desire never wavered. My glasses prescription changed often and drastically growing up, but I always enjoyed the feel of a new, more accurate prescription. It was an easy decision to choose this route.”
“I have been very fortunate to have had a great partner in Jim Haines, and our team is looking forward to continuing our high standards of service, community involvement, and further development of relationships with our patients,” Garn says. “The town of Zionsville and surrounding communities offer unique support for small businesses. There is a shared respect and passion for what it takes to be a responsible leader in the business community here. We take our support role seriously, knowing many local schools and organizations depend on it for their success. It’s a pretty special place we get to live and work in.”
