City Barbeque recently opened its new location in Whitestown in July. The opening marks the popular barbecue restaurant’s first location in Boone County.

Representatives of the new restaurant have already started giving back to the Whitestown and Zionsville communities.

Emily Parish, the Community Involvement Coordinator for City Barbeque, says a lot of positive work is being done to help some local organizations, including Hero Family Outreach, which serves military and first responders and their families.

“We have also been working with the Zionsville Little League, Zionsville High School and the Whitestown Police Department,” Parish says. “We’ve had a good reach into the community, and we have been talking to other organizations.”

Parish says non-profit groups select a date for a fundraiser and then they invite their family and friends to eat at City Barbeque.

“Customers bring their fundraising flyers when they are ordering food,” Parish says. “We collect the flyers, and 25% of the sales with flyers go directly to the non-profit organization.”

Parish noted that church groups, booster clubs, parent-teacher associations, school organizations, sports teams, youth groups and other non-profits are encouraged to look at the fundraising guidelines at citybbq.com and fill out a date request form.

“It really is a great way to raise more money for your organization and also enjoy a delicious meal at City Barbeque,” Parish says. “We are really excited to be here.”

Positive Feedback

Parish says that the Whitestown and Zionsville communities have been overwhelmingly supportive of the restaurant since its opening.

“This has been a great location,” Parish says. “There was a need for a good barbecue place in this area, and we have heard nothing but good things since we opened. Customers love the food.”

Patrons already have their favorites.

“The Beef Brisket is really popular,” Parish says. “The ‘More Cowbell’ has also been a big hit. We get a lot of orders for that.”

The “More Cowbell,” a reference to a funny Saturday Night Live sketch with Will Ferrell and guest host Christopher Walken, is an award winning-brisket topped with peppers, smoked provolone, onions and creamy horseradish sauce, piled high in Texas toast.

“City Barbeque also has popular side dishes that are made from scratch daily,” Parish says. “Every City Barbeque location has three smokers on-site. They are working 24 hours to smoke all of the barbecue. One of the favorite desserts is the Triple Chocolate Cake.”

City Barbeque also serves smoked meats such as pulled pork, turkey breast, pulled chicken and sausage. Their features include a chicken breast sandwich on a premium bun, served with a wing, Lo Lo’s Pulled Pork, which is marinated in “swine wine,” and topped with a creamy slaw, and St. Louis-Cut Ribs that are referred to as “Bite off the Bone” ribs, rather than “fall off the bone.”

The Sample the City meals include the popular “City Sampler,” which features beef brisket, pulled pork, sausage, turkey, two sides and Texas toast, and The Motherload, which is enough for six people. It includes brisket, pulled pork, turkey, a half slab of ribs, a half a chicken, two sausages, six sides, cornbread and Texas toast.

Parish’s favorites include the smoked turkey breast and the restaurant’s corn pudding.

Fresh salads include the Smokehouse Turkey Salad. Family dinners are also available, and the dessert options include peach cobbler and banana pudding.

Parish says that the Whitestown restaurant is the sixth City Barbeque location in Indiana.

“The other locations are in Carmel, Fishers, Avon, Greenwood and IUPUI,” Parish says. “City Barbeque has a lot of award-winning competition recipes and people love the food.”

City Barbeque is located at 6082 Whitestown Pkwy in Whitestown. For more information, visit citybbq.com.
