(MUNCIE, IN) – Craig Robbins, owner of Walls Furniture and Mattress Company, has been named the new publisher of Muncie Magazine, a Towne Post Network publication.
With deep ties to Delaware County, Robbins is an ideal fit for the role. A Delta High School and Ball State University graduate, Robbins and his wife, Audrey—who is a professor at Ball State—have been a part of the Muncie community for a very long time. Both grew up in Muncie, where they are now raising their four sons.
A dedicated philanthropist, Robbins regularly donates furniture and mattresses to the Muncie YWCA women’s shelter and provides sneakers and basketballs for children there. He is also actively involved in supporting efforts to help single mothers secure stable housing, collaborating with local Christian ministries, and assisting Afghan refugees who have resettled in Muncie in recent years.
“Muncie has a good heart,” Robbins says. “Whenever there’s a need or an issue, people come together faster than in any other community I’ve done business with. We find a way and get things done.”
Robbins’ local favorites include Red Apple Cafe, Mulligans, catching a play at Civic, yoga at the Corner Mat, and attending numerous community events.
As a father of four sons—ages 13,12,8,6—Robbins dedicates much of his free time to coaching youth sports. A former athlete himself, he played baseball, basketball, and tennis, and now enjoys mentoring young athletes. “I remember every coach I had and something about each of them,” he reflects. “Coaching gives me the chance to teach kids about life—there’s more to baseball than just catching or throwing,” Robbins emphasizes the importance of confidence, resilience, and teamwork to his players, encouraging them to support one another, regardless of success or failure.
Looking ahead, Robbins is eager to build on Muncie Magazine’s success by uncovering new and compelling hyperlocal stories. “Muncie has always needed a magazine with local content to share the cool things happening in our community,” Robbins says. “I’ve been in advertising and business for many years, and I love this community. Muncie Magazine captures all of this, so after talking with my wife, the decision was a no-brainer.”
Muncie Magazine was started by Jeff Hern in November 2022, with Robbins being a frequent advertiser. Hern decided to sell the franchise this fall to focus on other family commitments.
Muncie Magazine reaches more than 12,000 homeowners and businesses in Delaware County monthly.
