Chelsea Barkman, owner of Three Little Birds Boutique, says owning a business was a longtime goal, and she made it happen through hard work and dedication.

When Barkman opened Three Little Birds Boutique in November of 2021 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, she received an enthusiastic response from an appreciative and excited group of customers.

“Owning a boutique has always been a dream of mine,” Barkman says. “After hearing about Pete + Lucy, I decided to buy some dresses for my own daughters and fell in love with the clothes.”

When Barkman chose to open a boutique, she wanted to share the Pete + Lucy brand that she fell in love with in her own community.

“Pete + Lucy are very nice boutique clothes at an extremely affordable price,” Barkman says. “They are very exclusive. They only make a thousand items of each print. The items that are sold become a big item among customers. I have heard a lot of great customers say so many positive things about the wonderful clothes.”

Barkman adds that Pete + Lucy uses the highest-quality fabrics available.

“The sizing on the clothes was also designed exclusively for Pete + Lucy,” she says. “They were made and developed to be durable for the child you are shopping for.”

Barkman notes that there is a wide variety of soft, trendy, high-quality items at her store.

“Pete + Lucy make core styles for girls,” she says. “They make them in very fun styles and patterns.”

Customers are pleased with the selection.

“A lot of people are pleasantly surprised that we have a nicer, wide section of items for boys too,” Barkman says. “Sometimes it seems like at some stores you can find quite a lot of quality items for girls, but not as much for boys. Pete + Lucy has both.”

Barkman makes sure the clothes fit parents’ budgets.

“The affordable boutique clothing items for children we offer are baby rompers, dresses, two-piece sets, shirts and sweatshirts,” Barkman says.

Three Little Birds Boutique also has houseplants, succulents and handmade plant hangers.

Barkman says parents have been appreciative of the affordability.

“Parents love that they can come in and get amazing, quality clothing that will last, at an affordable price,” Barkman says. “Our unique, exclusive prints and soft ‘milk silk’ fabric is what customers are drawn to. The ‘milk silk’ fabric washes amazing every time, and should not shrink, pill or fade no matter how many times you wash it.”

Three Little Birds Boutique has many regular customers who have spread the word about the affordability and quality of the products. Some of the children’s clothing items have been a big hit with customers.

“Our dresses and tutus are our most popular items,” Barkman says.

Barkman has her own children’s clothing favorites.

“My children love that they can pick out an outfit that fits their personality and be comfy at the same time,” Barkman says.

Barkman adds that Three Little Birds Boutique also offers other high-quality items at good prices.

“We have hair accessories, jewelry, baby items, stockings, handmade items and much more,” she says.

Barkman praises Nappanee, and how people look out for each other to enhance their lives.

“Nappanee is my hometown, and I’m amazed at the progress it has made over the years,” Barkman says. “It is a great little community that loves to come together and enjoy all the wonderful things life has to offer.”
