Carol Pike Mayor
As we welcome October, there is a noticeable change in the air and in the landscape around Jeffersontown. The leaves are beginning to turn, temperatures are cooling, and our community is embracing all that makes fall such a special time of year. October brings with it beautiful scenery, family traditions, community gatherings, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the season right here in Jeffersontown.
One of the highlights of the month is Pumpkinfest, a favorite fall tradition for families throughout our community. Pumpkinfest is a wonderful opportunity for neighbors to come together and enjoy an afternoon of fall festivities. We also look forward to trick-or-treating, when our youngest residents can dress up in their favorite costumes and enjoy a safe and memorable Halloween.
October is also a meaningful time to reflect on the service and sacrifice of the men and women who have defended our nation. I encourage everyone to visit the Jeffersontown Historical Museum and experience the special exhibit, “Our Heroes: A Salute to Our Veterans.” This exhibit provides an opportunity to learn, remember, and express our gratitude to the veterans who have served our country and protected the freedoms we enjoy today.
As the leaves continue to fall, I would also like to remind residents to be mindful of proper leaf disposal. Please follow the City’s guidelines for handling leaves and yard waste. Proper disposal helps keep our streets, storm drains, and neighborhoods clean and safe throughout the fall season. Your cooperation makes a difference and helps keep Jeffersontown looking its best.
Finally, I want to extend my sincere thanks to the residents of Jeffersontown for your continued support of the American Red Cross. Our community has consistently demonstrated a generous spirit and a willingness to help others in times of need. Your support allows the Red Cross to continue its important work helping individuals and families when they need it most.
Thank you for all that you do to make Jeffersontown a welcoming, caring, and vibrant community. I hope you and your family enjoy the beauty of the season, participate in our fall activities, and take time to appreciate the many wonderful things happening throughout our city.
Have a safe, happy, and enjoyable October!
