Westfield Youth Sports Selects 2026 Tucker Swain Scholarship Winners

Megan Buschemeyer and Clayton Walther have been selected as the 2026 Tucker Swain Memorial Scholarship recipients. The two Westfield High School seniors were recognized between games on Sunday afternoon at Monon Trail Elementary during the final day of the Third Annual Tucker

Swain Memorial Tournament. Buschemeyer and Walther are former WYSI participants and will receive a scholarship that honors the memory of Tucker Swain.

“The scholarship selection committee once again had a large number of deserving candidates to choose from,” Tucker Swain Committee Member Andy Tolle explains. “After narrowing the group down to six finalists, we were thrilled to identify Megan and Clayton as the scholarship winners.”

Westfield Youth Sports Inc. (WYSI) worked closely with the scholarship committee this year to select Megan Buschemeyer and Clayton Walther as the recipients. Each student will receive a $1,000 scholarship to be used at the institution of their choice. Megan has decided to continue her education at Indiana University and Clayton will attend Hope College.

“We were incredibly impressed by the quality responses we received from all the candidates and truly believe that Megan and Clayton reflect the values at the heart of Tucker’s legacy,” Tolle adds.

Tucker Swain, a vibrant third-grade student at Oak Trace Elementary School, left a lasting mark on the community with his kindness, in

telligence, humor, and creativity. Actively involved in various sports, including baseball, basketball, and football through WYSI –Tucker’s passion for athl

etics and commitment to excellence continue to inspire.

WYSI is honored to work alongside the Swain family and the selection committee to celebrate Tucker’s spirit,” says WYSI Board Member Carolyn West. “Each year, this scholarship reminds us of the incredible impact one young person can have—and helps us support students who reflect the same heart and passion Tucker shared with our community.”
