Volovic Orthodontics Focuses On Personalized Care And Modern Treatment

Confident Smiles

Dr. James Volovic and the staff at Volovic Orthodontics are committed to building meaningful relationships with their patients and their families.

Dr. Volovic prides himself on making sure all questions get answered and is dedicated to quality, efficiency, and attention to detail. As a former recipient of orthodontic treatment himself, he knows the positive difference it makes in the life of his patients.

The Hamilton County native quips that he spent 10 years as a student at Indiana University. He spent his undergraduate years in Bloomington and then went on to four years of IU Dental School in Indianapolis, where he finished second in his class. He capped off his decade at IU with a two-year orthodontic residency, completing his specialized training.

”Orthodontics is so much more than straightening teeth. It’s about giving someone the confidence to walk into a room and smile without hesitation. I lived that experience myself. I didn’t feel comfortable smiling until I had orthodontic treatment as an adult, and it changed everything for me. That’s the gift I want to give every patient who walks through our doors. We’ve created an environment where patients actually look forward to their appointments, and that energy is something families feel the moment they arrive,” Dr. Volovic says.

Dr. Volovic and his wife Alexandra, a former counselor at Westfield High School, live in Hamilton County with their 16-month-old daughter. When Dr. Michelle Wittler was ready to retire, Dr. Volovic acquired her practice, located at 534 IN 32 in Westfield. Now named Volovic Orthodontics, it serves the same families that have relied on it for over 20 years.

“Continuity of care was my top priority during the transition. Dr. Wittler and I worked side by side for several months so that every family could get to know me before any changes took place. These patients had built a relationship with this practice over decades, and I wanted to honor that trust by ensuring they never felt like just another chart. My promise to this community is that the personal care they’ve come to expect isn’t going anywhere. It’s only going to grow,” Dr. Volovic says.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children should be seen by an orthodontist by age seven for an evaluation. Dr. Volovic shares that a child this age will still have some baby teeth, but any problem with jaw alignment, spacing, or bite will be evident. If corrected early, more problems can be avoided later.

“Early evaluation is one of the most valuable services we offer, and it’s complimentary at our office. Catching issues at age seven doesn’t necessarily mean a child will need braces right away. Often it just means we can monitor their growth and intervene at exactly the right moment. That kind of timing can prevent more invasive treatment down the road, save families money, and lead to better long-term results. Parents should never feel they’re being premature by bringing their child in for a consultation,” Dr. Volovic says.

Most treatments start at age 11 to 14, when a child is hitting their growth spurt and the permanent teeth are in. Orthodontic treatment is also available for adults whose teeth have shifted due to not wearing retainers or aging in general. There are several treatment options.

The course of treatment depends on the age of the patient and the issues that must be addressed. Volovic Orthodontics offers treatment plans that range from traditional braces to nearly invisible options such as Invisalign. Retainer services and teeth whitening are also available.

“Every smile is unique, and every treatment plan should be too. I personally sit down with each patient and their family at every visit to walk through the plan, answer questions, and make sure they feel completely informed. Parents are always welcome to sit right beside their child during treatment, and there are no closed doors here. We’ve also invested in the latest technology so we can deliver the most comfortable, accurate experience possible. Our 3D scanner has replaced the messy impression material most people remember dreading, and our digital imaging allows us to plan treatment with a level of precision that simply wasn’t possible a few years ago. Better technology means shorter treatment times, fewer appointments, and more predictable results,” Dr. Volovic says.

“I grew up in this community, and being able to give back by providing exceptional orthodontic care to the families here is genuinely the highlight of my career. Westfield is a special place, and watching it grow has been remarkable. I’m grateful for the support of the Westfield community and the way they champion local businesses working together. When you choose Volovic Orthodontics, you’re not just choosing an orthodontist. You’re choosing a neighbor who’s invested in your family for the long haul,” Dr. Volovic says.
