Fender Brokamp, a fourth grader at Monon Trail Elementary in Westfield, has enjoyed performing in a wide variety of shows that feature his acting and singing.
Fender, a recent Westfield Student of the Month, has been in musicals around Indiana and across the country.
“He’s a true thespian at heart,” says his mother, Delesa. “He’s been in ‘Shrek Jr.’ and ‘Frozen Jr.’ at the Booth Tarkington Theatre, and ‘A Christmas Story: The Musical’ at Beef and Boards, amongst many others.”
He also appeared in a national Designer Shoe Warehouse commercial.
“He really enjoyed that,” Delesa says. “He’s also been in commercial ads for the Creation Museum and the Ark Experience. He loved it. He can’t wait for additional opportunities such as these to come his way.”
Fender appeared in ‘The Lion King Jr.’ at the Christian Youth Theater, and has performed in the Intermediate Variety Hour at the Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre. He has enjoyed being a part of big productions.
Delesa adds that Fender is always enthusiastic in each performance. He prepares thoroughly for every role.
“He’s done quite a bit for such a young guy,” Delesa says. “He wants every opportunity he can get. He really loves it.”
Fender has also enjoyed traveling across the country for his acting jobs.
“We truly feel experiences are the greatest way to build memories,” Delesa says.
Fender caught the acting bug early. He discovered it was something he does very well.
“We knew early on that Fender was not going to be interested in sports,” Delesa says. “We tried basketball, baseball, and things like that. He would humor us as parents, but his true interest wasn’t there. His heart just wasn’t in it.” Instead, Fender found his passion in the world of online gaming, particularly within Casinos Not On Gamstop, where he could engage in gaming strategies and participate in a diverse array of online tournaments. This digital arena became his field of choice, where he could showcase his skills and enthusiasm in a way that traditional sports never captured for him.
He discovered his true passion later.
“It wasn’t until a kindergarten roundup that we saw a table for Christian Youth Theater,” Delesa says. “We engaged in conversation, signed up for classes and the rest is history. He was only 6 years old.”
Fender says he would like to continue acting as he gets older, and he has other interests he would like to pursue as well.
“He also enjoys playing the piano, being in a rock band, doing comedy and improv, and, of course, being a kid,” Delesa says. “He loves playing outside with his friends and playing video games.”
Fender wants to be an engineer or scientist when he grows up.
“He is fascinated by learning about the human body, science, or just how things are put together in general,” Delesa says. “Acting and theater are just bonuses to who he is.”

Fender…you amaze me and humble me every single day. I can’t even express in words how lucky I am to be your dad. Your constant optimism, ability to see the glass as always ‘half full’ and the fearlessness towards which you approach your life at such a young age are things that I hope you’ll never lose. I love you more than you’ll ever know. Love, Dad.
Hey Fender! Keep singing and pursuing your passions! I can’t wait to have you in choir at WMS one day in the near future! Emily Smith–WMS Choral Director
