Summer festival goers will likely want to mark the upcoming Tipton on Tap Craft Beer, Wine & Spirits Fest on their social calendars.

The inaugural festival will take place from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 at the Tipton Town Square and surrounding streets.

The event will feature unlimited pours from 20 Indiana craft breweries, distilleries and wineries, as well as live music, local food, local art, games and more.

“The idea for how Tipton on Tap got started began when Mike Terry, City of Tipton public works manager, and Steve Niblick, City of Tipton and Tipton County Planning Office executive director, attended a couple of similar events around the state, and felt that Tipton would be a great location for this type of event,” says Steve Raber, community development director for the City of Tipton. “They learned that the events were put on by Indiana on Tap, and presented the idea of having an event here in Tipton to Mayor Tom Dolezal.”

“A meeting was held with Justin Knepp and Mark Lasbury from Indiana on Tap, Mayor Dolezal, Mike, Steve, and myself as community development director,” Raber continues. “We all agreed that this was something that we wanted for Tipton. Mayor Dolezal signed a three-year contract with Indiana on Tap to host the event.”

The event was launched to get people to visit Tipton.

“The mayor and I felt that this event would be a great way to showcase Tipton,” Raber says. “Craft breweries, wineries and distilleries have become very popular, especially with the younger adults. We wanted people to be able to sample these items, and have an enjoyable day here in Tipton. We also became aware of the strong response to these events around the state, but noticed a void in this part of the state, and thought Tipton was the city to fill that void by hosting an event.”

Tipton on Tap is also a great way to feature local businesses.

We thought that this would be a good opportunity to find a new owner for a couple of these storefronts. We felt that this would be a great event to offer our area as we emerge from the COVID times.”

Gates for the event will open for VIP entry at 3 p.m., with general admission beginning at 4 p.m. VIP tickets include an extra hour to enjoy the event, and shorter lines during the first hour to sample beverages. Both VIP and general admission tickets include unlimited pours from nearly 100 different beers, wines and spirits, along with access to the outdoor music and entertainment. Food will be available for purchase from multiple food partners.
