Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library is excited to announce we have reopened with reduced hours and limited access to the building. Although the library has reopened, the library experience is different than many may remember as staff responds to COVID-19 and take measures to practice social distancing.
Library hours have been reduced to Monday-Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, Saturday, 9 am to 2 pm, and Sunday, 1 to 5 pm. Library staff will be wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), such as face masks and disposable gloves, with limited contact with the public. Staff may look different but are still friendly and eager to serve. Anyone planning to visit the library is respectfully asked for cooperation in wearing PPE in the interest of public and staff health.
To maintain social distancing, the library is offering curbside services. Curbside services include appointment only computer access, scanning, faxing, printing and copying pickup, reference services by phone or email and curbside holds pickup. Patrons may place local items on hold through the Evergreen catalog. They can also call or email to talk with a staff member. All materials currently out are not due back until Wednesday, July 1, and no late fees are being charged. Materials can be returned via the outside dropbox.
Visitors taking advantage of curbside services will be able to access the outside porch and inside lobby, but the main part of the library will remain closed. Public bathrooms will not be available for use, so please plan accordingly. Aside from the pandemic, there is also still quite a bit of construction happening around the building, such as finishing touches on the second floor and a large portion of the quiet study area remodel. Meeting rooms are still closed until further notice.
Don’t forget, although the library may be operating with limited access and services, we are still 100% open online. Digital collections are available at plainfieldlibrary.net/digital-resources. The Evergreen Indiana catalog also has a nifty Shelf Browser option that allows you to browse the shelf without physically being in the building.
