Patrick Moormann, a certified nursing assistant at Harbour Manor & The Lodge, is continually inspired by the residents and staff he works with.
He is moved by how strong and resilient the residents and staff have been during hectic and stressful times. In the face of a pandemic, he says everyone has risen to the challenge, and couldn’t be more proud of the people around him.
“In the beginning of this past year, when we were dealing with COVID-19, there was panic and confusion,” Moormann says. “There were few of us that worked the COVID-19 unit. We were isolated from everyone else. The residents under our care only had us to talk to, and us to them. We just tried to keep their hopes up, and their minds on other things.”
Harbour Manor & The Lodge offers services for assisted living, short-term rehabilitation, long-term care and memory support.
Moormann has enjoyed working with the residents during stressful times. He is encouraged by how resilient and courageous everyone has been.
“I was happy to help where I could, and I would do it again,” Moormann says. “I would like to think that helping residents, especially during COVID-19, is the right thing to do.”
Harbour Manor has high-quality, long-term care, which is especially important during a pandemic. The staff offers comprehensive skilled nursing and hospice care.
Staff members such as Moormann go the extra mile to make sure residents are taken care of. It also helps that residents receive professional health care in a very comfortable and welcoming environment.
Moormann says he is touched by the residents’ courage and attitudes during a tough time. They have been able to face each day with hope and a strong attitude.
“The residents have been pretty positive during all of this,” he says.
Moormann adds that Harbour Manor residents have been understanding of safety measures and protocols. They understand how everyone needs to work together to make it through a challenging crisis.
“Most have understood our precautions and limitations,” Moormann says. “It has been taxing for them not to be able to see their families.”
Moormann has also been moved and inspired by his fellow employees. He has witnessed them going the extra mile to ensure every patient is comfortable and receives outstanding health care. Staff members have put in extra hours and encouraged each other.
“Those I work with are phenomenal,” Moormann says. “They have put so many hours in during this past year. Some were isolated from their families for long periods of time and they kept coming to work.”
