Lindsey McVey Head is more than the owner of the local boutique, Just Lagom, but a community advocate, creating collaborative business opportunities within Noblesville through different events and initiatives where the focus is about investing in the people and community.
With a deep love and admiration for Noblesville, McVey Head continues to expand on the profound impact she has made in the community.
To McVey Head, community is very important, and she has many different business and community collaborations, including helping organize Wine Wednesday, a downtown initiative influenced by Noblesville’s DORA (Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area), where participating businesses stay open late each Wednesday and offer specials for winegoers from 4-7 p.m.; the annual ticket event Noblesville Bouquet Crawl with Camino & Company, where guests patron various downtown participating locations while collecting a different flower stem at each stop; and, along with her mother, she is the co-founder of the Indiana Peony Festival, where Lindsey manages the festival’s marketing and the downtown activation of the event.
“I think my deepest passion lies in marketing, creating memorable events and bringing people together. Just Lagom allows me to combine all of those things in the hometown I love. We have such a special downtown filled with wonderful shops and restaurants. To me, it’s a no-brainer to nurture that through strong relationships, meaningful collaborations and events that bring all of us together. We’re passionate about our community, and we always put collaboration above competition because everyone does better when we work together. That might mean creating a promotion that brings customers to several downtown businesses instead of only your own, welcoming a neighboring business that may overlap with your products or style, or simply grabbing lunch from the restaurant next door during your shift because you understand how much every purchase means to a small-business owner,” says McVey Head.
McVey Head knew that one day, she wanted to have a shop of her own, an idea that began to take shape when she was working her first job in high school at a local boutique called Delaney’s Shoppe. She found herself completely enthralled and captivated by the styling, designing new displays, engaging with customers and being interested in the idea of curating and buying inventory.
After high school, McVey Head studied PR, marketing and design in college, where she then moved to Los Angeles and later Dallas, where she spent six years developing a career in advertising and eventually realized that she wanted to build a life back home in Noblesville and pursue that lifelong dream of opening a shop.
Just Lagom is McVey Head’s dream come true. The name “Lagom” is a Swedish term meaning “not too little, not too much, but just the right amount” and is also a heartfelt tribute to her grandpa and their Swedish heritage.
Just Lagom is a welcoming store inviting guests of all ages and styles to come shop the unique, eclectic collection of vintage and new finds at the boutique. From seasonal outfits and one-of-a-kind vintage finds to thoughtful gifts and fresh weekend bouquets, every item is chosen to feel special, interesting and ‘just right’ for the shop. McVey Head also partners with 10 to 15 local artists and makers who sell their work at Just Lagom, creating another opportunity to champion small businesses.
“I hope shoppers always feel relaxed and at ease when they visit. I’ll never push items into your dressing room just to make a sale. I want to feel like the friend who is there to help when you need it — or who happily lets you do your own thing if that’s what you prefer! More than anything, I hope people feel a sense of community here. I want them to enjoy taking their time, looking around and discovering all the little old and new treasures throughout the shop,” says McVey Head.
Come see how Just Lagom is just what you need by visiting their storefront located at 876 Logan St. in Noblesville, with their store hours being Sunday from noon to 3 p.m., Monday and Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., with Wine Wednesday from 4-7 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
