Fall is here, and it’s the best time to get outside and explore what Hamilton County has to offer. As you plan your month, here are a few experiences you don’t want to miss.
Buy tickets for the Headless Horseman festival at Conner Prairie.
This annual fall festival is popular for a reason: it’s full of activities, shows and spooktacular fun for the whole family. Kick off the experience with a visit to the Apple Store for a hand-dipped caramel apple and apple cider slushie. Then, challenge yourself to the enormous corn maze with three unique paths to appeal to guests of all ages. Be sure to ride the 1859 Balloon Voyage for an aerial view, too. And of course, don’t forget the main attraction: the frightful hayride where you’ll get chased down by the Headless Horseman!
Go on a ghost walk with Unseenpress.
Did you know Hamilton County has a haunted past? From breweries to businesses, visit the places where the dead continue their spirited affairs. Choose from the Nefarious Noblesville Ghost Walk or Westfield Historic Underground Railroad Ghost Walk, which includes a visit to a historic haunted cemetery.
Pick the best pumpkin at a local pumpkin patch.
Before you carve a jack-o-lantern, you need to pick a pumpkin. Here in Hamilton County, check out Stuckey Farm Orchard and Cider Mill, Spencer Farm and Russell Farms Pumpkin Patch. Each location has activities all-month long, including hayrides.
Ride aboard the Nickel Plate Express.
On the Pumpkin Express, guests will take a ride to a local pumpkin patch while enjoying the rural fall countryside. On the Wizard Express, climb aboard for a magical journey into the wizarding world, complete with spells and special treats. Those guests over the age of 21 can enjoy the Wizard Express Adult Ride with alcoholic beverages or the Uncorked Express with local wines. The Nickel Plate Express boards out of Forest Park in Noblesville, so it’s easy to pair your adventure with an afternoon exploring the city.
Enjoy a special fall beverage at a local business.
‘Tis the season for apple cider and pumpkin spice, and fall flavors abound at local businesses. Check out unique beverages like the Caramel Apple Martini at 10 West in Cicero or Beetlejuice at 1205 Distillery North with bourbon, beet juice and orange bitters.
