Ashley Weed handles customer service, marketing and social media for Weed, Inc. in Warsaw, and says the companys employees have a great saying.
Our saying is, When we show up, we make peoples day better, Weed says. Unless someone calls us for routine maintenance, our customers are calling because they have a problem they need taken care of. Our services help solve some pretty bad situations.
Weed says her parents, Rick and Susie Weed, the owners of the company, know how to run a successful business that keeps customers happy.
The company is family owned and operated.
In the mid-1950s our grandpa, Loyal Weed, started Weed and Sons Septic Tank Cleaning, also known as Weedys Septic Tank Cleaning, Weed says. His dad, our great-grandpa Bert, worked with him.
In 1975, Loyals second-oldest son Rick (Weeds father) started Weed Excavating and began installing septic systems, with his wife Susie (Weeds mother) managing the office.
As the demand for septic tank repairs near me increased, they bought a truck and began pumping tanks, Weed says. Eventually they got out of the excavation side of the business in order to focus exclusively on sewer and drain services.
Today the company is Kosciusko Countys leading sewer and drain cleaning company, specializing in residential, commercial, industrial and municipal wastewater solutions.
Rick and Susie are now retired, but we continue to be a family-owned and -operated business, Weed says. The office is managed by two of Rick and Susies daughters, and two of their sons-in-law work in the field.
Weed says the company is a full-service business.
Our residential services include septic tank pumping, sewer and drain cleaning, sewage pump work and leach field restoration, Weed says. This is one of our newer services, and we have found great success in providing the EarthBuster technique to failing systems.
Commercial services include grease trap pumping, septic tank pumping, sewer and drain cleaning, and lift station maintenance and repair.
Municipal services include manhole and lift station cleaning and repair, and sanitary and storm drain maintenance, Weed says. We work with many small towns around our area to provide quality, dependable service.
Industrial services include machine and duct cleaning, and liquid waste pumping and disposal.
The business has a lot of loyal customers. They have been pleased with the excellent service that the employees provide on a continual basis. Many of them have told their family and friends about the company.
Much of our business is repeat customers, going back to the 80s and 90s, Weed says. Our crew is great at creating relationships and building trust with our customers. We have several repeat customers who have their favorite tech, and will request them when scheduling service. We even often get asked how our dad is doing by customers he worked for back in the day.
Weed and her family and co-workers love their jobs.
We do such a variety of work and no day is the same, she says. That makes things pretty interesting. The crew we work with is just phenomenal. They are hard-working, devoted, have excellent customer service, and are the best you could ask for.
Weed says her family members also enjoy working together.
When we call it a family-run business, it truly is, she says. In the office, two of the three Weed sisters work together, and myself. Also, two sons-in-law of the owners, work together in the field.
Other family members also help out.
During the summer we have had grandsons and granddaughters also working for the business, Weed says. Even though they are mostly retired, Rick and Susie still help in some capacities. In fact, on some days we have had three generations working together.
