Trent Odell with Odell Lumber & Supply in Rochester says his family has a long history in the lumber industry.
My wife Stacy and I own what has been known as Fansler Lumber Company, Odell says. We purchased it in August 2019 and we changed the name to Odell Lumber & Supply. We felt like a fresh start and a new direction was needed.
Odell is a lifelong grain and livestock farmer from Howard County.
I graduated from Purdue University in 1985 with an associate degree in agricultural economics, Odell says. In 2021 we changed our residency to Rochester, and moved up here full time in the spring of 2022.
Odell loves Rochester and would like to do more to help his neighbors.
In response to several people in the community, I will be running for mayor of Rochester in 2023, he says. I see that as an additional opportunity to help people, which has been one of the greatest joys of owning a retail business.
The retail industry is something fresh to Odell.
Retail business was all new to me, but I was tired of the hog business and knew I needed more than just grain farming to keep me busy and make a living, he says. We purchased a lake home in 2012 here in Rochester and we have since fallen in love with the community.
Odell notes that his focus has been on providing a high-quality product, along with outstanding service that can be tough to find in big-box stores.
I guess Im old-school in having a heart for small, local business, and I believe that pouring yourself into your local community with value-added products and personal service will yield good results, he says.
Odell adds that his business offers everything from structural materials on up.
From structural lumber to trim, siding, doors, windows, laminate flooring, cabinets, countertops, you name it, we have resources to get it, he says.
Odell has plans to expand his business.
We have in our immediate plans to add a 1,000-square-foot showroom – home center, if you will – to better display our full product lines, he says. We stock a complete line of treated lumber, posts and decking. We are also just one of a few lumber businesses in the state to offer MoistureShield composite decking, which has as good of a warranty as any other place on the market, but at a very affordable price. We can then wrap that deck with several railing options that will set it apart. Before doing any type of deck work, check us out. You will be surprised at what we have to offer.
Odell Lumber & Supply also carries Marvin windows and doors, and SCREENEZE for screened-in porches that can span 150 square feet without any internal support, for clearer vision.
We also offer services that include a fully equipped shop for custom cutting, cabinet building, and screen, glass, door or window repair, Odell says. We can also custom-build aluminum of various color options, sharpen saw bits and blades, and refurbish some brands of pneumatic nailers.
The business also has a lot of hardware to choose from.
We have a well-stocked hardware selection, and a highly knowledgeable staff that can help you design and quote your project, Odell says. We deliver larger projects for free, and smaller ones for a nominal fee. We cover a 50-mile radius, sometimes even further.
Odell is always pleased to meet new customers.
If you are looking for quality and a personal touch with your project, no matter the size, from a few minor upgrades to a complete home, we would love to help you in any way that we can, he says. Our hope is that once you visit us, you will want to visit us again.
