One More Chapter
Residents and visitors to Plymouth might recognize Susan Kessler. She’s the former owner of the Blueberry Cottage Yarn Shop before she chose to retire, but like many, retirement didn’t really stick.
“I sold the yarn shop and made it to mid-September before I started itching to do something else. I’ve always read books, and Plymouth didn’t have a bookshop, and people used to talk about it at the yarn shop; they’d like a bookshop around here,” Kessler says. “I found a building that was just meant to be. It was the perfect size, and we opened March 6.”

One More Chapter offers new and used books with some of the top genres of 2026. They have fiction and nonfiction and have noticed a popular desire for classics and books that are made into movies.
“There’s a lot of interest in books that have an upcoming movie release or maybe they just did a television series. ‘Remarkably Bright Creatures’ by Shelby Van Pelt has a movie coming out starring Sally Field, and I can’t keep ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’ on the shelf,” Kessler says.
There are classic and modern children’s books, local Indiana authors and fantasy romance.
If Kessler doesn’t have it, she’s happy to get it for you.
One More Chapter offers special-order availability. Kessler says the option has proven to be popular, and she’s happy to bring in that next book in the series you’ve been working through.
In addition, the bookshop currently features a two-for-one in terms of places visitors can spend several hours shopping and creating.
One More Chapter is in the front of the building and has partnered with Heartland Art Center to utilize the back of the building while their original location is renovated.
Kessler says everyone is enjoying the new setup. They can shop for their next book on the way out from taking a class at Heartland or vice versa.
The shop offers a gift area for the book lovers in your life. Pick up a bookmark, greeting cards, canvas totes and more to give away or to enhance your home library.
They also offer a buyback program when you’re ready to clear out the bookshelf at home and make room for more.
“Probably 75% of our used books come from the buyback program. Customers can get $1 or $2 per book or double that in store credit. The books have to be in really good shape; otherwise, I will take donated books and give the customer a 15% off coupon,” Kessler says. “It’s really important to me that we have both new and used because you want everyone to have an opportunity to shop.”

She has already created several book clubs, too.
On the third Wednesday of the month, Kessler hosts Whisper Wednesdays: Silent Book Club. Simply bring the book of your choice, a beverage and even a cozy blanket if you wish, and settle in a comfortable chair throughout the shop and read for a while.
On the fourth Wednesday of the month, visitors are welcome to join the Poison Pen, a mystery book club in which the club reads a specific book and talks about it afterward.
She hopes to bring the community, and in particular readers, together with other activities.
“We plan to do some other things, but I’m kind of waiting to see how the flow goes over the summer. I’m always open to new ideas,” Kessler says.
Most of all, she’s simply enjoying being back in the swing of things with a “wonderful and very knowledgeable” staff and the community, who continues to come back for their next read.
“When I owned the yarn shop, we didn’t have a ton of men coming in. What I love about One More Chapter is that it’s such an eclectic group. It’s new people every day and all ages. Everyone is welcome, and it’s just fabulous,” Kessler says.
Current hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. They are open until 8 p.m. on book club evenings and on special occasions when Heartland hosts an artist’s reception or public event.
