Brunch Pub at Bass Lake

Writer / Angela Kisela

Good food. Good people. Strong coffee. Words used to describe the establishment known as The Brunch Pub, located on County Road 210 in Knox. The Brunch Pub is under new ownership.

Murals reflecting the seasons are artistically strewn across the picturesque windows and glass door. Inside, the vibrant-colored bricks set the tone for the cheerful atmosphere new owner Sara Lindsay wishes to create.

“Pull up a seat and feel at home,” Sara Lindsay says.

Lindsay is no stranger to hard work and sacrifice. Successfully running a business requires long hours, dedication and a great deal of faith. For years, Lindsay was a server at Gelsosomo’s in Portage, where she also stepped into the role of general manager. Originally from Portage, she and her daughter relocated to Knox.

Lindsay believes God paved the way for them.

“I’m a single mom from Portage. This is all a miracle,” Lindsay says.

Lindsay’s background is filled with miracles, servanthood and delicious food. From the age of 4, she was instructed by her family to watch, learn and carry on the recipes created by her great-grandma Maime and Grandma Zula.

Lindsay watched, learned and mastered the family recipes. Homemade creations such as lasagna, spaghetti and meatballs, stuffed peppers and porcupine balls (meatballs with rice) showcase her culinary flair. Keep an eye on the menu for these items to appear along with homemade soups and sourdough bread.

The Brunch Pub consists of numerous talented individuals. Lindsay’s family — including her mom, Kim; stepdad, Karl; brother, Bryan; and boyfriend, Eric — sets a harmonious tone for the business.

“We had a hiring event and 28 people showed up. We prayed for God to help us make the right decision. He did. We have wonderful staff. We are family,” Lindsay says.

“Our chefs are Zach and Rickey. These two men are phenomenal cooks,” she says. The Brunch Pub meals are made from fresh ingredients gathered by local farmer, known as Farmer Jim.

“Jeremy is our dishwasher and he is amazing,” she says.

Lindsay’s compassionate spirit proves that her dream of creating an environment where everyone feels welcome begins with her.

“I want to incorporate a prayer box. I want to have cards that ask, how can The Brunch Pub pray for you?” Lindsay says.

The talent at The Brunch Pub extends past the kitchen and into the dining area, where server Kelley and barista Serynitee set the tone reflected in Lindsay’s vision.

“I want you to feel the comfort and love in this place from the minute you walk through those doors,” she says.

Beautiful bouquets of fresh flowers from Lewellen Blooms are available for purchase while supplies last.

For coffee lovers, Tanner and Roxxy serve up double shots of espresso from Rabbit Coffee. Hot or iced coffee with an array of flavors and toppings and hot tea are also available.

Breakfast is available from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Selections include signature skillets, French toast, deep-fried waffles, biscuits and gravy and build-your-own omelet.

For customers with limited time, The Brunch Pub offers a grab-and-go breakfast burrito. The Brunch Pub’s lunch menu presents a variety of mouthwatering options. Choices include burgers, hot dogs, BBQ pulled pork and chicken sandwiches with garlic aioli. Gourmet paninis such as peanut butter fluff and bacon, along with Zul’s Patty Melt — named after her Grandma Zula — are customer top picks.

‘Wingin’ it never tasted this good!’ is advertised on The Brunch Pub’s Facebook page, informing customers of naked and battered wings. Available for dine-in or carryout only on Sundays during football season.
