Here is a list of a few big December events in the Kokomo area this Christmas.

Dec. 1, 7, 8, 14, 15: Sponsored free evenings at Christmas at the Seiberling. Seiberling Mansion, 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Free admission thanks to generous community sponsors. Visit howardcountymuseum.org.

 

Dec. 16: Christmas at the Seiberling Candlelight Tours. Seiberling Mansion. Last Saturday before Christmas from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $10 adults and $5 for students 18 and under. Visit the mansion on this special evening to admire the seasonal decor during a self-guided, low-lighting tour. House lights are extinguished or lowered to provide optimal viewing of holiday lights. Dec. 1-3: Kokomo Civic Theatre presents “It’s a Wonderful Life,” a live radio play. IU Kokomo Havens Auditorium. Performances Friday and Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a

live 1940s radio broadcast. For tickets, call 454-8800 or visit kokomocivictheatre.org.

 

Dec. 1-3: Christmas Lights of Greentown, Howard County Fairgrounds in Greentown. Drive through the Christmas Lights of Greentown to see large light displays and archways. Open Nov. 24-26, Dec. 1-3, Dec. 7-10 and Dec. 14-25. Enjoy a Christmas village and hot chocolate in the Round Barn. Santa will be there on select nights. Lights start at 6 p.m.

 

Dec. 1-31: Christmas at the Seiberling. Seiberling Mansion and Howard County Museum. Regular hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 1 p.m. 4 p.m. Also open on select evenings. $10 for adults and $5 for K through 12 students. Children under age 5 are admitted free. Tickets available online or at the door. Closed Mondays, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. For more info, visit howardcountymuseum.org.

 

Dec. 1-31: City of Lights. Highland Park light display. Open nightly at dusk. Free admission. Santa will be there through Christmas Eve. Lights will stay on through the end of the year. Call 456-7275 for more info.

 

Dec. 1-31: Lights in the Airpark. A walk-through holiday light experience at Grissom Air Museum. Open Thursday through Sunday only from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. (closed Dec. 24 and 25). Adults $9 and children (aged 6 to 11) $8. Kids 5 and under are admitted free. Visit both the indoor museum and lights in the airpark for one price. Free take-home craft for kids. Dec. 1-Jan. 7: The Frozen Sandlot, open for the season on select days. Kokomo Municipal Stadium. For full schedule of open skating times, prices and information, visit frozensandlot.com.

 

Dec. 2: Rudolph Family 5K Fun Run & Walk. Family-friendly fun run/walk through downtown Kokomo and along the Wildcat Creek Walk of Excellence. Starts at KHCPL Main. Open to all ages and abilities. Doors open 7:30 a.m., and race begins at 8 a.m. This year’s event will include reindeer games and a costume contest, so all participants are encouraged to wear holiday garb for a chance to win a prize. Dec. 2-24: Santa arrives at Markland Mall. Santa will arrive via fire truck to the Markland Mall at 10:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Visits with Santa will be held through Dec. 24. Bring your child in to share their wish list and visit with Santa. Photos are available but not required to visit with Santa. There is no charge for visiting with Santa. Dec. 3: Sensitive Santa at the Markland Mall. 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. A sensory-friendly opportunity for kids with special needs to visit Santa without all the noise and distraction of the mall being open. Photos available and not required.

 

Dec. 11: Paws & Claus. Markland Mall, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Bring your furry friends in for pictures with Santa.

 

Dec. 2: City of Kokomo’s Christmas Parade. Downtown Kokomo. Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. Tree lighting at 6 p.m. Carolers, train rides, live reindeer and more from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Visit cityofkokomo.org.

 

Dec. 31: The Party: A New Year’s Eve 2023 Gala, benefiting the Gilead House, at The Hobson. A black-tie formal event presented by Fortune Companies and Sun King Brewing. 7 p.m. Evening includes four-course dinner, drinks, music, dancing and silent auction.
