The Geist Upper Fall Creek Alliance, with the support of the GLC Steering Committee, recently hosted its inaugural Toy Drive Bass Lake Tournament at Geist Reservoir on Black Friday.
The drive took donations for new toys for both boys and girls. The group asked the community to drop off toy donations during the tournament in the toy drive box.
The event raised a total of 477 toys and $2,100 total in cash and checks was also donated.
Scott Delph, who helped organize the event, says thanks are in order for everyone who came out and supported, including local businesses like Krenolies Donuts and Cabela’s for their tournament day donations, Case’s Bait and Tackle and Dave Case for his generous donation of the Waft Rod and Colts tickets, Just Add Water Boats $500 donation, care of Tim Coe, Wilson industrial Sales $500 donation, Care of Zach Goldsberry, Brian Hall personal donation of $250, and Ralph’s Muffler and Brakes Service $200 donation care of Joshua M. McDermott, and many more.
“Big thanks go to Ted McClintick and Chad Jackson as well for stepping up to the plate and matching Michael Schwomeyer’s donation for a total of $200 for auction of boat No. 1 chip as well,” Delph says. “I want to give a shout out to Michael Schwomeyer for stopping by and helping to MC the event, too. I also want to thank Red DiRT Bait Company for your generous bait donation, we greatly appreciate you guys.
“I can’t express enough our sincere gratitude to everyone who fished, donated before the tournament, those who stopped by during the tournament and those who showed up at weigh-in and donated,” Delph adds. “This will go a long way to help put smiles on kids’ faces Christmas morning and that’s what this was all about.”
