You’ve sent in your nominations, and now it’s time to decide the Mom of the Year! The following are finalists for 2017 Geist Mom of the Year. The deadline to vote is April 15, and you can vote once daily until then.
Nickole Patton
Nominated by Eric Patton, who says:
Nickole was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 1, 2016. Last year, she continued to run our family business, Jack’s Donuts of Carmel, be a rockstar mom for our two children: Evan (6) and Anniston (4) all while enduring 16 rounds of chemo, double mastectomy surgery, reconstruction surgery and daily radiation for six weeks. She never gave up and was even the head coach for Anniston’s four-year old soccer team in Fortville! She didn’t miss a swim lesson, baseball or soccer game during treatment. She still has chemo treatments every three weeks but is cancer free! We recently opened up our second Jack’s Donut shop in Westfield. She now runs both shops, gets the kids to practices, runs the day to day stuff in our house and is a great mother and wife. I am a full-time Fishers Police Sergeant, work 12-hour shifts and work various days on and off. Nickole is a fighter and deserves this recognition as mother of the year! I am very grateful for her!
Jessica White
Nominated by Dustin Mendenhall, who says:
I nominated Jessica because she has taken an unfortunate circumstance and guided, served and loved her children better than most even under normal circumstances. She lost her husband two years ago this Valentine’s Day due to military-related injuries. She has cared for her three hurting children all while moving forward with life with such a positive attitude that has been an inspiration to many. Many call her a super mom, but I think she just prefers mom. Over the past year, she has exemplified what being a mom is all about.
