A large outdoor crowd sits in lawn chairs facing a modern open-air pavilion stage at the Nickel Plate District Amphitheater in Fishers, Indiana during an evening concert. The steel-framed wooden pavilion structure is illuminated from inside with vibrant pink and violet stage lights, casting a glow onto the musical artist performing live on stage. A backdrop screen on stage displays the band name "Manchester Orchestra" in white block letters. The audience fills the green grass lawn stretching into the background under a twilight sky with soft, orange-tinted clouds.

From Rushville to the Stage: A Decade of Music and Classic Hits

The best musicians have a story behind every song they play. For Indiana musician and vocalist Lindsey Flannery, that story began in the small town of Rushville, where a love for music first took root in church pews and community gatherings.

Growing up in Rushville, Flannery discovered music at an early age, performing in church before eventually taking her talents to local venues. By age 18, she was playing in bars and building the confidence that would launch a musical journey now approaching a decade.

“I am from small-town Rushville, Indiana, and this is where my musical journey began,” Flannery says. “I started off playing music in church and began gigging in bars at age 18. I have been playing music for almost 10 years now.”

Like many musicians, her sound has been shaped by the artists she admired growing up. Two legendary songwriters stand out among her biggest influences: Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan.

“As a child, Johnny Cash was one of my biggest musical influences,” she says. “He sparked my interest in old country music. Another influence was Bob Dylan because of his lyrical genius.”

Those influences can still be heard in her performances today. Whether she’s delivering a classic country tune, a folk-inspired favorite or a timeless rock anthem, Flannery brings an appreciation for storytelling and authenticity to every song she performs.

A blonde female musician stands on a small elevated indoor/outdoor stage, singing into a microphone and playing a cream-colored electric guitar. She wears a gray halter-style crop top, heavily distressed light-blue denim jeans with large knee rips, and sandals. Guitar effect pedals sit on the wooden floor at her feet, and a partial view of a green drum kit and another band member is visible behind her, with an open patio window showing cars and bushes outside.

When it comes to favorite songs, two classics hold a special place in her heart.

“My favorite two songs to perform live are ‘What’s Up’ by 4 Non Blondes and ‘Brand New Key’ by Melanie Safka,” she says. “‘What’s Up’ was one of the first songs I ever learned to play, and it has stayed with me through the years.”

That connection to music and performance was cemented during a memorable early experience that still stands out today.

“My most memorable performance was my very first time playing live,” Flannery recalls. “It was at an open mic in Shelbyville at a bar called Capone’s. I still get to play there today.”

Now, audiences can catch Flannery performing at Eddy’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill, one of the Geist area’s favorite destinations for live local entertainment. Guests can expect an evening filled with familiar favorites and crowd-pleasing classics.

“Guests can expect to hear a wide variety of classic hits dating back to the ’70s and beyond,” she says.

Looking ahead, Flannery continues to expand her musical horizons through new collaborations and projects. She currently performs as part of an acoustic duo and a full band called BIG SKIES, which focuses primarily on classic rock.

“My band, BIG SKIES, plays mainly classic rock, and we look forward to performing throughout the area,” she says.
