A daytime landscape view in Indiana shows two parallel railroad tracks cutting through Fortville's small downtown area. A large, white metal water tower with "FORTVILLE" painted in black block letters stands tall on the right side of the tracks, next to a brick building. In the distance to the left, an old, weathered concrete grain elevator rises behind trees, under a bright blue sky filled with scattered white clouds.
Home sweet Fortville. 🤍 Just a peaceful afternoon along the tracks in one of our favorite local spots.

With the town of Fortville, I serve a few different roles, but as community relations director for the town of Fortville, I have the unique privilege of serving this community from many different perspectives. I am a resident, a customer, a consumer, a longtime employee and coach within the Mt. Vernon community, and a volunteer with organizations including the Mt. Vernon Optimist Club, Friends of the Library and Kiwanis. Before joining the town, I spent more than 30 years in management and customer service, experiences that taught me the importance of relationships, communication and serving others.

Those experiences have shaped my vision for community engagement and led to the creation of Fortville’s Fourth Fridays, which officially launched Feb. 27, 2026, building upon the monthly coffee meetups that had brought local business leaders together over the previous two years. Held at Fortville Town Hall, these gatherings provide an opportunity for businesses, organizations, stakeholders and community partners to connect, collaborate and grow together.A black-and-white circular official seal for the Town of Fortville, Indiana. The top arc of the outer border reads "ESTABLISHED IN 1865" and the bottom arc reads "HANCOCK COUNTY" in bold uppercase letters. The center features the text "TOWN OF FORTVILLE INDIANA" stacked above an illustration of an American bald eagle with open wings, holding a patriotic shield with stripes in its talons.

Our goal is simple: keep everyone connected, informed and supported. These meetings are about much more than town updates. They provide a forum where local leaders can share announcements, celebrate successes, discuss challenges, exchange ideas and discover new ways to support one another. From construction updates and community events to marketing strategies, business promotions and local partnerships, every conversation helps strengthen our community.

What makes these meetings special is the spirit of collaboration. The businesses and organizations that serve Fortville interact with thousands of people each year and are truly the eyes and ears of our community. By listening to one another and sharing experiences, we gain valuable insight that helps us grow and become a better version of ourselves.

Fortville succeeds when all of us succeed. The power of positivity, communication and teamwork continues to move our community forward. When I use the word community, I place special emphasis on UNITY because that is what defines Fortville. We are strongest when we work together, support one another and celebrate our shared successes.

I am grateful for every business owner, volunteer, organization, stakeholder and resident who invests in Fortville’s future. Together, we are building a strong, connected and thriving community, and I look forward to continuing that journey with all of you.

Trunks Up,

Andy Williams
