The Northside Knights of Columbus (KofC) has literally been catering to the community since its inception in 1952.

On September 23rd, the Northside KofC hosts its 11th annual Oktoberfest event. Not only a fun party, it’s a fundraiser for Holy Family Homeless Shelter to help their inventory for Christmas as well as collecting donations for Boulevard Food Pantry.

This family-focused event is geared towards children during the hours from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., then transitions to adults from 7pm – 11pm. The admission price ($5 kids, $10 adults) includes dinner.

Oktoberfest is open to the public and features craft beer and, of course, lots of German food.

“We are grateful to our sponsors that make this a tremendously successful event,” says John Creamer, who has been a member of the Northside KofC since 1988. “We help approximately 50 different charities throughout the year with either in-kind or cash donations, which keeps our Executive Director Brad Elson busy.”

Elson, who has served as Executive Director for more than 20 years, ensures that while KofC serves other nonprofits, they offer a fun, family atmosphere for their members.

“Whether we are raising money for the community or hosting pool parties, everyone has a great time,” says Creamer, who is also Chairman of the Charity Gaming Committee.

“It’s also a great place to watch the ND v MSU game, which kicks off at 8 p.m. that night,” adds Creamer, of the Oktoberfest evening.
