The doors to The Blessed Butterfly opened in February 2024 as a passion project full of girly, pink comfort by the owner, Brilynn York.
The Blessed Butterfly offers classic, hybrid, soft-volume and volume lash extensions and fills, as well as eyelash lifts and tints, eyebrow wax, lamination, eyebrow microblading, and lip waxing. Whether you are looking for a full-volume lash or a bit of tint, York has the service for you, with a goal of enhancing your natural beauty.
York began her lash and brow business as an ode to her daughter, Bethany, and her “butterfly kisses.” At a young age Bethany was diagnosed with autism, and her sweet butterfly kisses were her way of communicating with York. Following Bethany’s diagnosis, and with a focus on her growing family with husband, Jeremy, York was looking for a way to get back into the beauty industry while also providing for her family. As her business grew, she wanted a name that supported that growth, which is how it expanded to the Blessed Butterfly.
Brilynn also has sons, Samuel, Daniel and Ezra. She states how important the support of others has been for her business. When talking of her husband, parents and nanny, she says “it takes a village to help with our children.” As new homeowners in the downtown area, the Yorks and their children are enjoying all that Franklin has to offer. They love to walk and explore downtown. On warm days her kids love to be on the splash pad at Young’s Creek Park and eat ice cream at Millie’s Ice Cream Co. on Jefferson Street.
York also emphasizes the importance of the support she has received from other women. When discussing the start of the Blessed Butterfly and what helped her through the daily challenges, she stresses the importance of “other women encouraging me to follow my dreams.”
Now when one of her clients comes into the studio feeling a little down, she gives them the encouragement they need. York wants everyone to get up from her chair feeling relaxed, confident and ready to take on whatever the rest of the day brings. York’s faith in God has also been a source of strength and comfort when something happens with her family or business. Her life motto is, “I will praise you anyways.”
