Storm Warrior Roofing & Restoration Makes Things New Again

Jared Helvie, an Indiana University Kelley School of Business alum with a dual major in business management and supply chain management and operations, loves the history and pride of Franklin. He started Storm Warrior Roofing & Restoration in 2021 during the height of COVID-19, with a plan to help his community in a big way.

Storm Warrior is a full-service exterior remodeling company that takes on a range of projects, from repairing gutters or updating exterior paint to installing new roofs. Franklin is Helvie’s hometown, but the company also serves Johnson County and a 100-mile radius from their office. Helvie and his team of nine employees specialize in repairing, replacing and restoring roofs, siding, gutters, windows and doors for their residential and commercial customers. They do many restoration projects following damaging storms, and are educated in working alongside insurance companies and homeowners.

For Storm Warrior, communication is a top value. Each customer has a company representative that oversees the project from start to finish. “They make sure to keep up with each and every customer they’re assigned to,” Helvie says.

Helvie, influenced by his grandfather’s project-driven spirit and his parents’ generosity, has ingrained going above and beyond into the company culture. His father, a physician, spent summers in Haiti volunteering his time treating patients and performing surgeries for those in need during Helvie’s childhood. This give-back attitude trickled down to Helvie, who spent his high school summers building homes in Juarez, Mexico.

Helvie now prides his own business on giving back. “Any of my guys will drop what they’re doing to help somebody if they need it,” he says.

Within the same day, his team was out alongside the Red Cross and National Guard helping residents of Winchester following a tornado that destroyed over 40 structures and injured 38 people in March 2024. Sarah Bain, Storm Warrior’s office manager and Helvie’s partner, says Helvie’s urgency to help sets him apart from others. He and his team even packed up a resident’s home that was destroyed and provided him with transportation from the hospital.

Storm Warrior is there to help customers through every step of their project. After an initial phone call, they typically have someone out within 24 hours to document and measure. They also provide an estimate within 24 to 48 hours.

When working with the company representative, software can be used to create a rendering of the project so customers can get an idea of the work before restoration begins. Helvie and his team love being a part of the revitalization of Franklin.

Helvie and his team do many restoration projects funded by insurance companies, but they also work with customers via private pay, and financing options are available. With communication and customer support at the forefront of their business, a company representative will be there for each step, and having someone on-site to talk to is an important component of each project. Helvie also provides frequent check-ins with customers to ensure a positive experience.

As an employer, Helvie focuses on being family oriented. He is the bonus father of Bain’s three children. Their youngest, 11-year-old Elle, loves pets, and after catching a snake, compromised with her parents to let it go if she could get a lizard. She now has a leopard gecko. Helvie is a motorcycle enthusiast, and in her infrequent free time, Bain loves to line dance, but if you ask them what they do in their free time, they’re usually chasing Elle around with all of her extracurricular activities. They love Enedina’s Taco Truck and Richard’s Brick Oven Pizza. They also volunteer their time, and Storm Warrior Roofing & Restoration is a sponsor of the Boys & Girls Club, Franklin football, and events in Hope, Indiana, where their children attend school.
