The new Kroger Marketplace on Olio Road is set to open in the fall. Until then, Kroger shoppers will experience a disruption during the final stages of construction. The 116th and Olio Road location will close in early September, and the new Marketplace will open approximately eight weeks later.
“To minimize inconvenience to our customers, the Pharmacy will remain open on the same property in a temporary facility with 24-hour security,” shares Eric Halvorson, Manager of Public Affairs and Kroger Spokesperson. “We want to make sure customers will be able to get their prescriptions with the convenience they expect.”
The fuel station will also remain operational throughout the duration of construction.
This temporary interruption of shopping habits promises to be as smooth as possible. Olio Road shoppers are encouraged to visit nearby Kroger stores where they will see some friendly faces serving as tour guides to find items on shopping lists. Kroger associates may have temporary reassignments during the construction. Some will get specialized training if their new work assignment requires additional skills.
Nearby Kroger store locations include: 116th and Cumberland, 116th and Allisonville and the Geist neighborhood store on Fall Creek.
The Kroger Company’s commitment to keeping their customers up-to-date of the construction progress during the temporary closure includes multiple letters mailed to residences with updates and a website for information on the project, including the new Marketplace layout.
The new Marketplace store will offer a much larger selection of 50,000 items and will include Starbucks, Little Clinic, apparel and toys.
“We are confident the new Marketplace store will be worth the wait,” states Halvorson.

What will happen to the existing building and all stores? Additionally, please improve traffic flow with wider lanes in front of the store. I have been avoiding shopping at the Olio store due to parking lot.
