Lily & Sparrow Boutique has moved from Maple St. to the corner of Lantern and 116th St., below The Escape Room. It’s across the lobby from The Well Coffeehouse and Radiate 60 Hair Collective within the Edge Building.
This new location allows the convenience of getting your hair done, picking out a new, chic outfit to wear to that party on Saturday and then grabbing a coffee to celebrate.
On March 1, Lily & Sparrow Boutique celebrated its 3-year anniversary. This specialty shop offers casual clothing, shoes, jewelry and other accessories. You will even find drinkware and bath items, including candles.
“We focus on providing true basics in clothing, adding in some unique pieces to throw in the mix to make your wardrobe complete,” says Jen Miller, co-owner with her sister, Steph Miller.
It doesn’t take long when talking to Jen and Steph to realize that both are caring and compassionate women who support others.
The sisters sell give-back jewelry made by isanctuary, or International Sanctuary, an organization that empowers and helps restore survivors of sex trafficking.
They also sell drinking mugs made by MudLOVE, a local handmade pottery studio and The CREATED co., a drinkware company. For every product purchased from these vendors, a portion of the proceeds goes toward providing clean water to those in need.
“God called us to do what we’re doing,” Steph says. “We enjoy working together, and we each bring different strengths to this ministry opportunity. We’re thrilled and honored to be able to use this store as a catalyst to cater to and support women.”
Both sisters grew up in Goshen, Indiana. They both dreamt of having a boutique together, even as they worked several jobs in Florida. The Miller sisters felt a calling to move to Indianapolis to begin their journey. They believe God has guided them and connected them to others to make their dream a reality.
“We wanted to create a space for women to come in and feel loved and feel special,” Steph says. “The Hollywood and fashion industry creates pressure on women to look and dress a certain way in order to feel pretty. We try to encourage women and help them pick out pieces that make them feel beautiful.”
Jen and Steph laugh as they admit they may not be the best salespeople when it comes to talking clients into making purchases. They truly believe it’s not all about the sale but about the women first.
They welcome anyone to come in and check out their Spring and Summer collections.
