Angela Peterson bought the store from the Hupps in 2018, with a promise to continue their tradition.

The store, which was previously owned and operated by Jerry and Lynn Hupp, has a lot of loyal customers. Lynn says that she and Jerry felt the time was right to sell the jewelry store to Angela.

“It’s going to be very difficult, but also, it is exciting to know that we will be able to take some vacations and travel and spend more time with family and friends,” Lynn says. “Anyone who has owned their own business, especially retail, knows that you are on the job 24/7, whether you are working or at home.”

Jerry and Lynn are looking forward to talking to many of their loyal customers over the next couple of months.

Hupp Jewelers started out in the Galleria at Glendale Shopping Center in 1977.

“We were in that location until 1992,” Lynn says. “We really liked it at Glendale and were able to meet a lot of great customers. We opened our doors in this Fishers location in June of 1991, and it was a good move.”

The Hupps are members of the Retail Jewelers Organization, which is strictly for the small independent jeweler, as well as Jewelers of America and the Indiana Jewelers Association of which they have been board members for several years.

“Larger stores won’t repair or service jewelry or watches that weren’t purchased there,” Jerry says. “We have been able to survive because we have always based our business on service and taking care of all the needs of our customers when it concerns jewelry.”

An item doesn’t need to be purchased at Hupp Jewelers for store employees to repair or service the item.

“Our motto has always been, ‘If it is important to you, it is important to us,’” Lynn says. “So no matter the monetary value, we will do our best to serve our customers. We have continued to design and create custom Jewelry as well. And we have the largest selection of Estate Jewelry in the area.”

Jerry says he and Lynn are looking forward to enjoying their free time and being free from the day-to-day operation.

“We will travel, enjoy our many hobbies and continue to enjoy our Church and organizations for which we volunteer,” Lynn says.

In the meantime, the Hupps want to say goodbye to all of their loyal customers and friends and thank them for their support and friendship all these years.

“We will be starting our celebration of retirement on June 9,” Lynn says. “We invite everyone to stop in and say goodbye over the next two to three months. Make plans to buy some of your jewelry gifts early this year. We will continue to serve our customers until Angela takes over. We are going to miss our customers, and I am sure it will be a very sad day when we lock the doors for the very last time.”
