Over 75 riders gathered on a beautiful Saturday morning, June 14, to honor a beloved Center Grove teacher, Sherrie Buchanan. The Center Grove Education Foundation joined Sherrie’s Friends in co-hosting the Second Annual Sherrie’s Ride. The 10-mile fun bicycle ride or 5-mile walk/run funds the Sherrie Buchanan Memorial Teacher Grant.
Center Grove Middle School Central Special Education Teacher Kristin Rodman received the very first $1,000 Sherrie Buchanan Memorial Teacher Grant during the 2014 Gala for the Grove. Ms. Rodman’s students sent some thank-you notes to Mr. Buchanan:
“I’m happy about getting new materials in our class. They will make us learn important things. I remember that Mrs. Buchanan helped me with my art projects. She was very nice.” – Michael
“I am so thankful we are getting stuff to learn with in school. I remember Mrs. Buchanan’s great smile she had when she talked with us.” – Caleb
“I am happy about new materials for our classroom. It will make us cooler. I remember Mrs. Buchanan liked all my clothes. She was very cool.” – Bryana
